A big bruising prop needs adding to that list, at least. Magic Rock Tap, Ringmaster 3.9% Mmm!

| I watched Doncaster win in the league one playoffs over the last few weeks on ourleague and Brandon Douglas as played well. He is another name linked with us. I know when a side is looking to sign better quality players it tends to look at the divisions above them. But there is good players who could do a good job for us playing in league one. Who would also probably be a cheaper option too.

Cheap options very rarely give value.

| Thing is we all acknowledge we need some line busting forwards but there’s not that many around.
Grix believes he had his fingers burnt with a springer style forward and he priorities’ defensive, personally I think we need a balance of both .

Aye, with the demise of amateur clubs like Ovenden it's not going to get any better for the progression of players. It's a worrying time for our game and we must keep backing it at junior level as much as we can. The best game in't world is being harmed by the greed of those who's job it is to promote it. Let's hope that sense prevails and RL as a whole survives and prospers. Rat and Ratchet shuddersfield. White Rat 4.0% Mmm!

| Matty Gee looks a good bet to beef up the forwards - still relatively young for a prop - think he scored a couple of tries against Leeds this year - we've not carried any real threat close to the line this year since Springer left - it would be good to have sort of threat that Kopjac gave Featherstone. While some of the players supposedly leaving, especially Harris , have produced some good performances, I think the touted incomings all offer something more , and it's pleasing that we look as though we want to move forward next year rather than rest in our laurels , something that probably happened too much under Marshall.

| [Part quoteThing is we all acknowledge we need some line busting forwards but there’s not that many around.
[End quote]
It doesn't stop me posting saying it's what we need but every time I do, I wonder where these line busting / ball playing players are going to come from?
Most if not all SL clubs are scouring the planet looking for them as are the Champ clubs.
Even on this seasons creditable achievement of finishing 3rd there are potentially 12 SL clubs, 2 Champ clubs that are stronger than us both in terms of on the pitch performance and finances and several other Champ clubs on equal footing to compete against.
How are we ever going to get and if we do keep these player / players?

| Seen Brad Knowles mentioned as well but Foster looks like he is going to Newcastle. Heard rumours of Morris and JWH leaving but hopefully both of those are not true because at the moment we look to be offloading a lot of squad type standard players and bringing in better quality and would be a shame if those two were going. It is looking very good for next season especially keeping the nucleus of this squad and adding some quality in key positions. If we can set up a couple of good loan deals with Huddersfield that are not as farcical as this seasons it could put us in a good position to challenge for promotion.

It depends on if you spend more money on lets say a super league who is past his best and coming for the wrong reasons. Or a hungry unproven player playing in league 1 he may be cheaper contract wise but you will get more value playing wise.

| I know there is more money allegedly in union, have any union players been looked at , either locally or lower level union sides. I understand there seems to be more league going the other way, There has to be untapped talent their amateur game too, I am sure this has been looked into, hasn’t ‘t it?

If you watch NRL what stands out a mile is the amount of South Pacific Islanders playing, they are absolute machines with not a little skill. I know this incurs extra costs but it seems to me to be a gold mine waiting to be Tapped!

The minimum wage for an NRL player (one of the squad of 30) is set at roughly £55,000. With a few players on a reported £700,000 (both excluding certain allowances and bonuses). Their second tier system reportedly pays around £40,000 to players "destined for NRL' and a lot less for those past their prime and still playing. Junior players can be on basics of £25000. In a lot of cases there are also "linked" jobs.
It means that for a young islander (or even an Australian) the move to the UK not only produces a significant cultural upheaval but also a potentially lower wage, unless they are going straight into SL.
As a consequence we tend to only appeal to players who
- have failed to make it into 2nd tier and still want a bash (often end up in the Championship)
- those that had a go and failed (nearly always end up in championship)
- some who never tried but simply ended up in England!!
- NRL players towards the end of the careers and offered lower local contacts than SL will offer
- NRL players who have "problems". These can be of all types but often tend to be player who think they are worth more than they are offered in NRL or those with discipline/criminal issues.
- Marquee players where our salary cap allows flexibility
Appreciate that some will not fit this list, but shows why it can be very hard now to get them.
On top of which we now have major issues in getting players visas, something significantly simpler for French based clubs

| Wakefield have confirmed Wood is leaving - consensus on their forum os that he's coming to Fax. I think he'd be an excellent signing, when I've seen him play reminds me a bit of Ben Kaye with his enthusiasm - but also with some pace - sadly in my opinion the only quality Kaye really lacked.
