| Thanks for that. Shame that the club (again) managed to get it wrong.
Apparently no "student" entry for today's game because Widnes wouldn't agree to it. That's fine, but why the heck can't the club update the information on our web-site (I don't begrudge the extra £3 for my son, but don't see why I should need to have the discussion with the turnstile operator having checked before I went to the game). It keeps on feeling amateurish when mistakes like this are made. The same with the (absent today) big screen and Fax TV. Good ideas, but if we don't have the wherewith all to make them slick and professional then we really shouldn't bother.
Rant over, the boys did us proud today.

| Funny you should say that because i too had problems getting into the ground today. having seen the poster with it on i was annoyed to find out about the lack of student tickets today.
having found this out we decided to just get on with it and pay full price instead to then find out that the card machine didn't work. Luckily my dad had some cash on him otherwise diehards like us wouldn't have been able to see the match. I appreciate they were probably rushed today but the ticket office is the first impression most get of the club and my experience today led me to believe there's no real communication between different departments on matchday

| I would think the big screen is part of a sponsorship for only league games. I paid £20 to get but my lad was free with his season ticket. I wonder how
Many Widnes supporters knew about this. The above linked helped me (thanks) and I am regular reader of the clubs site but did struggle to find this a first. Not that it matters now but admission Prices could be put on a news item 3/4 days before the match.

| A slightly cheeky/cynical thought maybe, but if I was running the marketing side of an entertainment business (which clubs like Fax are), then I'd be all over all the communication channels that were being used. More than one disappointing experience reported here so let's see what the club have to say?

| But it was £20 well spent in my case.
Didn't buy a beer today as queue was too slow.
Not sure how things not work with only 2032 at game. Attendance poor. More at Oldham and 1000 more at Dewsbury. Cup not pull in anymore.

It was a poor attendance but not helped by a low turn out from Widnes I would guess around 300 came over?
Both Oldham and Dewsbury were playing much better supported teams Warrington & Wigan hence why their crowds were much higher!
I agree the Cup is no longer the pull it was but also feel that these are truer crowds as they are full paying speccies not league games with freebies and all tickets issues counted!

Don`t forget that Widnes have lost 6 games on the bounce too , there may have been some of their fans who decided to stay at home .

| Probably best way to see fan base would be to see how many came to each clubs home game agains Eagles and Broncos as the away fans do come in a taxi

Well, it does look like the club don't frequent their own forum? Or if they do, choose not to respond!

With all due respect this is an unofficial fans' messageboard and the club isn't doing anything wrong by not responding directly to posts on here.
I've seen Leigh staff members arguing/disagreeing with their fans on their forum and it comes across as very embarrassing and unprofessional.
From my point of view I wasn't overly shocked to see that the big screen wasn't there as I'm guessing it's something that is only available for league games? Not the end of the world to be honest.
My friend also seemed to have no issues walking through the south stand turnstile and paying £12 for student entry so I'm not sure what's happened in your case!

| LOL, we didn't have a problem paying £12 either. The normal price for students, and the one advertised for the Widnes game, is £9.
I see your point about the Leigh board, but I still don't see why they can't interact and respond here occasionally, especially when they make mistakes. A short message with an apology goes a long way.
Btw, not bothered about the big screen tbh. It doesn't really add anything from a spectator viewpoint in its current guise.

| I think I've seen it on here on the odd occasion but it's not a regular thing.
I didn't even realise there was a bracket below £12 so fair enough if there was issues getting in for that price!
Hopefully we do more with the screen eventually as it's definitely being underused at present. Sheffield used to show replays after their tries on the big screen whilst at Bramhall Lane. That would be a nice addition to ours but maybe not that easy to implement?

| AFAIK it's been that price for students all season (not really looked before as my son has a season ticket, but it's the same for Oldham).
Things like action replays etc are relatively easy with the right equipment (and some experience of these things!) I think, but that equipment could easily cost around £10k - albeit that would allow for 4 cameras connected to show different angles (not easy to arrange at away grounds!). Something like that would also allow for live streaming to the internet as well as the big screen.
It's a difficult one, but maybe something to consider if we did get ever get back into SL? A potentially larger audience paying a subscription would soon provide sufficient payback.

Surely it won't be too difficult to put scorers, attendance, Golden Gamble and other teams scores on? Advertise upcoming games, the club shop and players sponsors. It would all add to the game day experience. Richard Oastlar, Brighouse. Elland Amnesia 5.8% Mmm!
