| He was terrible, but those fans of ours who went up at the end threatening him and hitting the barriers should be ashamed!
We were awful anyway.

| Cant see the point in blaming the ref although he was poor, but he was poor for both sides. The game was lost in the first half due to our inability to tackle yet again against a side that cost a fraction of ours to assemble. Simple game plan at Mount Pleasant, up the jumper and kick on the last and tackle like demons when playing up hill. Thats all Batley do.

| He was/is but we did enough to win the game if we'd have kept our heads, but he definately didn't help with crap decisions.

| Ref was poor but if Miles had have passed when through with Smith alongside him and Penky hadnt have gone for the kick on the short side,if White hadnt knocked on with line at his mercy and if we had tackled better in the first half,we wouldnt even be discussing the ref.And by the way the Batley supporters sat next to us were playing hell with the ref too!!

He was bad, he let things get out of control, but he was not at all helped by the touch judges so i wont go over board.
Also, at the end, i was stood right in front of the players tunnel, it was nothing, one lad was stood on the railings (big deal) and another fella banged a piece of metal panelling, that sounded worse than it was, i dont think he was threatened, i think he was told by some that he had a crap game in colourful language.
In the second half i thought we were excellent, lots of players stood up and we were unlucky not to get all 3 points.

| Some bizarre decisions or more failure to give penalties. Think they got some soft ones to get them up the hill in the first half, but no surprise, ref fails to give similar decisions when we started to get some momentum in second half. Obvious ones like markers not being square when Penky was running from dummy half, but worst one was when a batley player came from behind Penky at the play the ball and pushed him over so Penky couldn't pick the ball up. 10 yards out just to side of sticks and would have brought us level.
But thought the players gave it a good shot today, especially 2nd half and after having to reshuffle for Miles. We defended really well when they got repeat sets coming down the hill (with more dodgy ref calls). I think we just needed better composure in 1st half. We often lost our shape and didn't play out our sets.

| Im not sure its the penalties they give that wind people up its the ones they miss. It was just a really poor effort by him today. The Smith sin binning after he had lost control and respect of the players, White picks the ball up from acting half, markers arnt square and the tackler was 5 yards in front of him, blatent penalty to square the game but no. Penky gets pushed over and he even put his whistle to his mouth for this one but then decides against it. Bowman gets the ball stripped on the line and he gives a knock on, where?
I thought we were superb in the second half and deserved to win the game. A bit shoddy in the first half, i know someone blames Greenwood for not giving the ball to Smith but we are talking an experienced player here and he gave Greenwood no option, Winger and FB did a good job but if Smith comes back on the angle its impossible to defend against. Oor basics were pretty poor in the first half like Greenwood getting trapped in goal. He has to run out low there but instead ran out with his head high making it all too easy for the defenders to hold him up and push him back. Second half we just took a few wrong decisions but its hard with a ref who dosnt blow for offside and is random with his marker penalties especially when thats a strong part of our game.

spot on, only fans with a poor understanding of the game blame the ref's.
We blew the 1st half through bad discipline (Barlow!) and just weren't clinical enough in the 2nd.
Was glad to be at mount pleaseant watching a competitive game for once (normally beaten after 60mins). The lads are really upping their desire and work rates now for the business end of the season.
Roll on Widnes.

I honestly don’t see the point of writing something controversial that is wholly inaccurate.
I was in the hospitality today, so had wait at the tunnel for 5 or so minutes, in between the game finishing and being allowed to go back into the clubhouse. Granted there were some fans giving Mr Leahy a bit of an earful, however, as a referee who didn’t perform at his best, I’m afraid that is something you have to take on the chin. As for what you’ve written about him being threatened, is utter rubbish!
As I say there were a dozen or so Halifax fans who headed over to the tunnel at the end and were certainly vociferous in regard to the performance of JL, but, (particularly having just been beaten narrowly) supporters will always be passionate and in many cases they will be critical of officials and opposition etc.
I think your post was a classic case of writing something solely to get a reaction. But why you need to accuse innocent Halifax fans of nothing is beyond me?

totally agree.
total "storm in a teacup", seen more un-rest a toddlers party.
And as for fans trying to get onto the pitch, complete and utter rubbish, shouting at ref from behind barriers that was all, big wow!
