| Sky+ it. Let me guess. Either Cullen, McDermott (both ex Widnes) or Terry oConnor, current Widnes, will be discussing it impartially!

Not really, from what i gathered it was a right crock of turd, Stevo basically thinks that because 2 SL clubs have had financial problems then the RFL really must think of this and bring in chairmen with money.
Didn't wakey do this and now look at em, Its total poo about the money thing, Dont get me wrong O'Conner has done everything for widnes and would i complain if it was done for us ?. No would i chuff but........Say widnes had done everything they have off their own back and not a money backer would they still be saying the same thing ?.
Basically get a money backer and you should be in according to stevo. One thing he did say at the end though, it should be made public as to why we the unsuccesful clubs didn't get in so that when the announcments are done in july it is fair and transparent.
All i will say is good luck to Widnes and to Halifax, Both have good bids and have done what has been asked, If it turns out the only reason they pip us to the post is youth development then i am affraid i would be looking at court action as they stopped other clubs from doing this last year.
Barrow have more chance of keeping a coach for a year then they have getting into SL this time.

| Sky Rugby coverage particularly the editorial coverage such as Boots n All is as one sided as RFL. . "Comon Paul even though youve got a vested interest tell us about Widnes" , "Stevo do you think if Widnes dont get it this time Steve O'connor might call it a day", "lets have a Cumbria team"
Phil Clarke "Im not backing anyone" but "it should be about the best Management" "Widnes made a £1million profit"
From a £2million investment!. . isnt that a £1million loss?
no worthwhile mention of Halifax just about what you'd expect from a biased commentary team

| The nerves are well and truly setting in to the west of the pennines.
As a Widnes fan, it's a case of 'once bitten, twice shy', however we are in a more stable position now than we have ever been. I think that we should get the nod tomorrow. It's just a shame that one of us will be hand picked to go into Super League, rather than earning it like they do in every other sport.
Rules are rules, and Steve O'Connor and his team and the thousands of fans that turn up every week have done Widnes Vikings proud. (as I'm sure the loyal Fax fans have done their club proud too.)
The best case scenario for me would be that we get the nod tomorrow, then you lot are added in the summer (sod Barrow).
Peace...

| What I find frustrating about the whole process is that it does not seem that Halifax and Barrow are being given a fair and objective crack at this. Apparently the decision is being made by an independent board, yet I have not seen the RFL come out at any point and do anything to stop the media's (press and tv) constant reference to Widnes being the "clear favourites". If all clubs satisfy the criteria, how can there be a "clear favourite" - unless they are putting more weight on criteria where Widnes are miles ahead of Halifax or Barrow. Whatever those elements are, they have clearly not helped Widens on the field, as they have been very ordinary and uncompetitive since Mr O'Connir rescued them from insolvency.
Indeed, if it wasn't for Ben dropping that ball in the NRC semi in 2009, then it would be between Halifax and Barrow tomorrow!
Whilst we could all get a massive shock tomorrow and see either Halifax or Barrow handed the licence, I'm not holding my breath. The decision was taken over 2 years ago.

How do you know? Maybe the Widnes team would of tried very hard and won the NRC the next year. And I would really love to have both teams in the Super league, but just hope its are name that gets called out tomorrow.

They looked to be trying hard last year until they ran into Batley in the final.
The league is the measure of consistency and most weight should be placed on this provided all other criteria has been satisfied - it is the most objective way of deciding.

| Realistically if you take on the field and off the field criteria then Fax are the obvious choice. Not reliant on one man, and actually producing on the pitch, we are probably the safer choice. We all know it dosnt work that way though and like has been mentioned it was decided 2 years ago who would be the team to gain the golden ticket to SL. The results should be published though and the only reason they wont be published is, well.............thats pretty obvious isnt it. Thats not a slur on Widnes though its obvious they should be in SL too but it should have been 2 years ago not this time.
I suppose we get another local derby though as we watch the game die a slow death. At least we get to watch a competitive England team what with all the youngsters coming through due to the franchising system...........oh.........we dont?..........oh.........but i thought............i thought franchising was supposed to change that............

They've certainly got a better claim than Widnes when it comes to on the field criteria. However, if you are judging over the period from the last franchises being handed out, then Halifax have the best record.

But it's not about infield performance is it? The RFL told Steve O'Connor last time what he needed to do. They said the Youth Set-up, now we have the best youth setup in Britain. And where's Fax's?

Nonsense. You have an average youth setup by SL standards. It has not produced one SL standard player yet!
