Didn't think pitch was in bad shape

Couldn't believe the amount of rain this morning, the moat around halifaxtowers is overflowing.
I did think at one time this morning that the game might be in doubt.
Further heavy rain forecast for this evening.
If it was a league game there would be no doubt, but, a friendly? We will see.

Hey the ground staff rule at the Shay they are more powerful than the Council!
I think it is the right call though as it is very wet and lets be honest we do not want a repeat of last season although I don't think the pitch is as bad now it drains better.

Reading that it suggests they are NOT playing it on Wednesday can somebody clarify this please?
I have to agree it is a very early call why not check the pitch at 10am tomorrow?

A game of rugby played in the rain, can you imagine. Remember the days when it was mud, blood and thunder and Im not talking about our away fixture to Batley last season!

I know what you mean but we share the pitch and we would moan like hell if the pitch was left in a state. I did see that Town were playing at Shelley in the West Riding Cup or some such tinpot trophy so it looks like they are also making an effort to conserve the playing surface.

With respect, I think statements like this are unhelpful. It's Super League again thinking that they are more important than every one else.
Don't they think that this has hit our peparations? Probably more so than theirs as we were fielding possibly the strongest 19 available.
Have they sent someone over to inspect the pitch? Right now it is raining as hard as it was this morning with more forecast for tonight.
Obviously I/we are very disappointed but knowing the pitch it would seem a reasonable decision.
Who are they to question the councils commitment to Rugby League, that's up to us. Do they think that by questioning it in an open statement the Council will sit up and take notice?

Well I was really looking forward to this game and am very disappointed it's been called off,again it seems the Shay needs to have a better drainage system.
