FAX TIL I DIE:

10 TO LEAVE AS EAGLES RETURN TO FULL-TIME
By Bill Blackburn | 31/08/2015
Sheffield Eagles can now confirm the names of players who will be leaving the club at the end of the Super 8s.

Director of Rugby Mark Aston has held individual talks with his playing staff over the last couple of weeks, as the club look to put together a squad for next season when the Eagles return to a full-time operation.

Aston confirmed today that Scott Turner, Sam Smeaton, Dominic Brambani, James Davey, Pat Walker, Tony Tonks, Jamie Langley, Eddie Battye, Loto Tagaloa and Ben Musolino will all leave the Eagles after the end of the Super 8s

That confirms what I had heard JT and maybe a couple more including Gav Bennion was mentioned before.
Fax will very likely not be making anything official with the current comp still underway.

I can understand why Moore is being moved out for Thacks but can't understand why Sharp is being let go?

Moore is a love him or hate him character but can produce the goods when he has his adult head on.

Personally out of all these players maybe only Tonks would make our team squad , I've been told we have already got Smeaton, the rest are not up to Fax standard,we must move forward next season,I'm sure RM knows this we need quality at 6 and 7 ,I would love to see Ridyard guiding Fax around the field.

I think it is a fine balance in attracting TOP talent and keeping the TEAM ethic that has served us so well. Whilst we DO NOT need any "Billy Big Bollux" type players, we definitely do need match winners like QLT, Taulapapa, Brierley, Ridyard etc.

RM will know who he wants but we have to face facts that Muzza will only take us so far, much as he has impressed me this year.

On another note, will Miles be fit at any point this yr or has he written it off? At K-Town he told me he was aiming for the middle-8s which I thought was a tad early. Dare I say it but is he as good as QLT (not been contentious but an open question as I really like Miles).

I don't understand Sharp either as he actually said he wanted another contract a Fev but suppose money talks (or Sharp doesn't want him) As for Moore he too inconsistent with Fev on his day very good but sometimes you can see he doesn't want to be here and he would confirm it if you asked him A new environment and coach might be what he needs

Pretty certain RM will be wanting and signing players he thinks can improve and integrate well into the ranks.
Tommy is no spring chicken, but is doing a marvellous job, so we do need wing cover as the day will come for Tommy to hang his boots up in the not foo distant future. Smeaton will rotate well with Divs and Manning. We also need cover in the halves, Moore can organise, kick, pass and the run the length of the field if needed.
And they look to fit into his strategy of getting players happy to play part time, and possibly play for a full time contract in the near future.
Let Sheffield and Featherstone do their thing, I still think the best signing we have is Richard Marshall, I trust him 100 %.

Fully agree.
Is it just a coincidence that Warrington have dropped of the pace and are now doing a complete revamp of their coaching set up below Tony Smith?

On wingers, no Potts this week as he dislocated his shoulder in last weeks game.

Tommy should be okay but waiting to see how Jonno and Divorty are.

Sam Smeaton looks to be done as does Turner to Fev, the others remain to be seen if true JT.
All part of the rumour mill for this time of the year. icon_thumb.gif

I would be calling a Taxi for a few players,I'm not going to name them wouldn't be fair with the season still going but I'm sure RM knows who is going.

Smeaton is a done deal.

I hear that Gareth Moore and Will Sharp are also heading our way from Featherstone.

If these rumours are true I think Moore will be another Paul Bishop type scrummie. You either love him or hate him but the one thing he does add is options to Murrell being our only kicker in chief. All will come out in the fullness of time!
