| Have others heard the rumours from the Fax hating Town fans that there has been an offer made to CMBC to sort out the pitch for something around £400K by a Town fan with conditions attached around the Council 'booting' out the rugby team?
As I work at the Council I can't do this so could somebody send a Freedom of Information request see which is what the Shay is as Town fans reminded us when TA was looking at taking it over.
I have my doubts that any deal would be agreed but no smoke without fire as they say and if this was the other way around all hell would let lose, we have to do the same!
Can somebody reply on here if they are sending in an FOI please?

Been discussed before, see below, You would think the Town fans would concentrate all their thoughts into the fact that the playoffs are slipping away, (non-fiction) rather than something that won't happen (fiction)

A better FOI would be how much in man hours, etc have the Luddites fruitless, pointless letters cost us, the tax payer.
Please don't get me started.

| It is worth mentioning that quite a number of Town fans on their forum are questioning this offer and as far as I know another Town fan who has posted on here before, Danger Mouse, has put in a FOI request about the offer. It is just a very small minority on their board that are trying to make it a Town V Fax thing and others truly do have the best interest of both team at heart when it comes to the ground.

| The only way this bid(if true) would come to fruition were if a current tennant(rugby and football) would be to fall behind on rent payments, and also exhausted their 28days warning and still failed to pay. It would allow the council to terminate their current tenancy agreement and enter into a agreement with the person who wants to take control of a lease. They would then pay upfront 400k for a 10yr lease, with an amount of this put aside for pitch renovations.
This bid is a non starter should both clubs remain upto date and do not default on rent oayments. Hope this helps

Kicking either of the clubs out of the Shay no matter who or what offer was on the table would be hugely controversial, where would Town or Fax play if that happened somewhere out of Halifax?
That would kill either club lets be honest and as for this non rent payment its all very well Town fans sitting on the higher moral ground at the moment while Town are solvent with a 'money man' and cash from sold players behind them but as a Town fan as well as Fax fan with a long memory this has not always been so and I would not want the roles to be reversed and see Town kicked out, my forlorn wish is for the same from some numpty Town fans who just hate the rugby club but I can't see it sadly.

The town fan who has been talking about this on our forum has stated one of the conditions of the offer is that the rugby club are kicked out and never allowed to play there again. He's said it's a football fan backer. Pitch works would be done using the upfront rent, then it'd be 52 weeks of just football, then the pitch leasehold company would be able to get another team in to share as long as it wasn't you.
At least that's what I can piece together from the posts he's made on our board.
It's obviously a wind up, even if there is genuinely such an offer there is no way CMBC would kick either club out. However, hopefully this FOI will allow us to move on from this stupid debate.
By the way - you can set up an account at WDTK in any name and you don't need to give an address, so you can set up an account and ask anonymous questions. Just don't register using your council email address!

There is a genuine bid which i have always believed would faulter as surely any rent outstanding would be paid if the option was eviction. The bidder however believes the sum owed to council is way in excess of what has been rumoured.

From 20th February. Quote:
"It has been common knowledge the club has had issues with the rental agreement with the Council but Mr Byrnes was keen to put the record straight "Whilst there has been issues in the past I am pleased to say once the next monthly rental payment has been made Halifax RLFC will be fully up to date with any payments to the Council."
So you're saying that Mr. Byrnes was lying then?

I'm only passing on what i've been told.Furthermore the above mentioned cheque is alleged to have bounced whilst the disputed sum of £1200 per month was never paid
and goes back over 3 years,so you can see this is not a minor issue.Could explain why we didn't see the expected recruitment last week.......

| Told by who? FCHT supporters? Hardly impartial are they? They are only ever prepared to believe anything negative about Fax and that, apparently, includes yourself.
The only statements regarding the alleged pitch leasing bid have come from Peter Noble (Flea) and he is totally obsessed in his hatred of all things Fax. Even Bubba said on your forum that he had mentioned it to 2 councillors (IIRC) and they laughed and said that no such bid existed.
This has now been going on for over a month since it was first mentioned and nothing has materialised so you will forgive me for being sceptical.

| Rabidly obsessed and hypocritical to the 9th degree.
I should imagine they cause much embarrassment to most Town fans
