| Are you guys treating it as Under 20's? Our coach has circulated all opposing teams to say they can pick as many 'open-age' players as they wish. Mainly because that's what he intends doing, to keep his large first team squad sharp!

It's a better idea than sacking lads off at 19 or 20 to be fair.

Agreed far better if proper "A" Teams are used instead of scholarships imo

| Well it should be one or the other as I don`t think it`s fair that a team of youngsters should have to play against a squad that is not like for like . Didn`t there used to be some ruling where you were only allowed one or two maybe over the age when you were bringing back first team players from injury . If that is no longer in place then why do they call it Under 20s ,why not just have a second team then ? I was under the impression it was about bringing youngsters through not just giving first teamers a run out .

| It can only be done if both teams agree. If one team doesn't agree then the game is played as an U20s

I thought it was an U20's League, perhaps I'm wrong but I did think the title "under 20's" gave the game away.

| It is "officially" but the rules have been relaxed to allow teams to play more overage players providing there is agreement between the two teams that are playing

So one week the under 20's get a game the next they don't depending on who the opposition is.
Seems a strange way to keep the young players, the future, happy.

I agree and in an ideal world I would like to go back to the days when we had 1st team, A team and Academy rugby but unfortunately most teams can't afford to do this.

| Well plenty of our 1st teamers got U20's gametime last season I can assure our posters. OK, how about this, how would your "youngsters" feel if they missed out on £20 or £30 appearance money for some "1st teamer" who got selected in front of them ?
These so called 1st teamers, who are actually reserves for the 80 minutes duration of the game might just bring on the kids, they might just steady things down or liven things up at the correct moments during a game. It's very possible you can learn things from playing against better opponets as well for that matter.
I wish we had the luxury of the Leigh squad in both quality & quantity, & i don't blame them for contacting other clubs to work a deal out re the U20's fixtures.

| Not a bad display by the lads the final score was 24 to over 40 something to Leigh.
Could have been a few more for them but they had a number of scores wide out with no conversions.
Senior players for them I noticed were Madden, Ostick, Brown, Govin and maybe one more.
To be fair the younger guys for Leigh looked quick and classy in attack with some good line breaks and offloads going forward.
Fax kept going, San Brookes, Jamahl Hunte, Brad Delaney and our full back were the picks of some good performances.
Not a bad crowd with £250 announced as the funds raised for the Fax builder.
