With eveything seeming to be going wrong up there,and the rfl about to rip in to them for salary cap infringments,does that mean they will be striped of the title they won in 2009 ? like the NRL have done to Melbourne Storm ..... IF SO will that make is the champions for the last 2 seasons then ??????

Barrow aren't an expansion club though.
it would be a shame if they folded if Big Des leaves though.

if it is all true - clearly they should be stripped of the title, presumably this would open up a can of worms regarding the winners fee for the title as well as win bonuses for the fax players at the time!

Gives me no satisfaction BUT I always said to Barrow fans their maverick chairman was buying them success but not legally, stories abounded how Uncle Des went into their dressing room saying £££ would be theirs if they went out and won, nothing new but a regular occurence at Barrow and under the radar of salary cap, so not surprsied this has now come out.
But it leaves a bitter taste as that GF was ours to win but 'stolen' from us by a team that cheated basically.
In athletics we would all have no symapthy for cheats so why do we in RL???

I for one hope they don't fold as a result of this. Des may have had his unique way of running things, but ultimately it is the fans and the game that will suffer if they do. They have some extremely hard working volunteers up at Barrow, not dissimilar to our own down here at Fax, that have raised thousands to pay for development work at Craven Park.

I would hate to see any traditional, heartland club go to the wall. Yes they should be punished for the breaches if proven, but not to such an extent that it kills the club

Me too whatever has gone on will have had nothing to do with the supporters and I hope the club can come through this.

Its a mess and no mistake.

We the Barrow fans are happy to take whatever points penalty the RFL deems both this seaon and next if warranted. However as Inoffsk1 states, we are seriously concerned about financial penalties potentially sending the club into adminstration or even out of existence.

Moves are afoot to address the issues we have around our board (or lack of it) and put measures in place to prevent the situation whereby a single individual gets free reign to act as they see fit ever occurring again.

The understanding and even sympathy from your fans is very much appreciated by the Barrow supporters. Cheers.

If the worst came and the club needed help i would be willing to donate as long as the money was used to keep the club alive. I never forget when the rl community helped us

Totally agree with that sentiment, but only once they have put their house in order, because sure as eggs are eggs the RFL will not help.

Feel sorry for the Barrow fans, shows what can happen when you rely on one person who is on a power trip. Reminds me of John Wright at Doncaster.. its all about "me" not the team.

But funnily enough the RFL still want big money backers with nobody to actually ensure that they do not run amok.
