Visit //www.geofflee.net for details of my novels 'One Winter', 'One Spring', 'One Summer' 'One Autumn' 'Two Seasons'. and "Three Good Years" All six feature Rugby League against a humourous Lancashire/Yorkshire background and are inspired by the old saying about work: "They could write a book about this place. It would be a best seller.": |

On Wednesday lunch time January 19th (12 for a prompt 12.30 start) Huddersfield University are holding a reception to celebrate the success of their UP and Under Rugby League Project and the launch of a book that resulted from the interviews with around seventy people from the game in West Yorkshire: players, referees, officials, club administrators, journalists and supporters.
The book is called 'No Sand Dunes in Featherstone. West Yorkshire Rugby League Memories' and among those interviewed are Maurice Bamford, Ken Dean, Karl Harrison, John Henderson, John and Linda Kitson, Garfield Owen, Trevor Ward, Ronnie Wolfenden and Geoff Wright all who have links with the Halifax club some going back many years and all with a tale to tell
The main speakers at the event will be Peter Fox, Mick Morgan and Dr Robert Light, the University Rugby league Oral history Project Leader. All rugby league fans are invited to this event which will be held in the Large Conference Room Level 7 of the Central Services Building at the university's Queensgate Campus.
The book is also on sale in WH Smith and Fred Wades or direct from London League Publications on their web site www.llpshop.co.uk

It is open to anyone but they would like you to ring first for catering purposes.

| John Kitson's grandfather George played for the Club during its early Northern Union days. His father and uncle played also. John had trials but his career ended due to a serious injury.
Linda Kitson first started following the club during the fifties.
Both were involved while she was running the Woolpack Inn in providing sponsorship. They are also helping organise an event at the end of the month at which John Dorahy will be present.

Thanks very much for that insight , so when John told me he used to be a winger ,he was actually telling me the truth.

| Thanks for making us aware of this event. Attended it this afternoon - it was most interesting and enjoyable (did not eat any of the sarnies).

Thank-you for that, Geoff! I know Linda and John, and was just having a bit of fun. Didn't know about John's family rugby history, though.
