Watching the Bradford game last night made me wonder how the bonus point would look in Super League. Bradford could only go for a win or a draw with there being no bonus point in Super League. To me it just seems purer that winners get everything and losers rue the fact they lost.

Not much difference to SL but a whopping massive difference to Championship. Without the stupid losers reward Fax move up one (massively important) and Haven saved from relegation.

Bonus point sucks!!!!

They're testing it out on the lower leagues to see how the clubs and fans react. The problem with this is that the RFL never listen to what goes on down here because they think we're stupid and beneath contempt. I bet they've even forgotton we've got it. It will turn up in Fatso's in tray in 15 years time - a day before he retires.

"What's this in my pending tray? Oooh - the bonus point plan. Oops. Ah well, the second tier doesn't exist anymore so I'll file it in the bin. Right, next? Oh yes, my biscuits. Mustn't forget those. Miriam - can you book a transit van for tomorrow please ........".

Erm, at the risk of being pedantic...

That isn't a table with the bonus points removed. Its the table under the old points structure.

If you do just remove the bonus points you still go above Leigh, but the team that benefits most is Barrow as we have none.

Hmmmm

BAN THE BONUS POINT!!

There is only two point systems. 2/1/0 or 3/2/1/0. You can't mix and match the points systems to 3/2/0

The worst points system ever. A team could get relegated winning more games than the team above them. The bonus point rewards failure.

Not a fan of the Bonus Point as one thing most people seem to be forgetting is that a team that draws a game - so basically tries to 'get a result' and not get 'beaten' only gets the same reward as a team that loses by up to 12 points.
Thats a team that loses gets the same as a team that draws a match!!!

Great idea - NOT.

I do not see a team of players very often trying to stop the opposition getting a bonus point but I do see a team that will try stop the opposition getting a draw! In the heat of battle do you think RL palyers stop and say hey its more than 12 points lads lets keep them out???
The proof is how many bonus points teams are getting.

Bin it, as others say it rewards failure. If say Haven go down despite winning possibly 2 more games than Dewsbury how would that be fair???

It was important to the team I support last season though because techinically although we still finished 3rd bottom and won 9 and lost 11 and would have been relegated had Gateshead not gone bust.

I read a post on here the other day from a Fax fan who thinks Leigh have no right to be in this seasons Championship. Wonder what that poster thinks of franchising and wether Toulouse should be exempt from relegation.

What was your best home crowd this season incidentally ?

I also wonder if that poster to whom I refer thinks the Championship is better or worse because Leigh are in it or if he thinks it is Leigh RLFC's fault Gateshead went into administration.

When every point matters bonus points are important in my view and keeps the interest in most although not all games for the full 80 minutes.

Now if we went back to promotion and relegation and no exemptions I might change my opinion.

This is not the case, is it?

A bonus point for a side losing by 12 points or less is just that - one point.

However, both sides in a drawn game receive two points.

I stand corrected if I am wrong on this, but am 100% sure that I am not and that the points system for the two Championship leagues is three points for a win; two points for a draw; and then the infamous bonus point for the narrow loser.

The point of the stats is that the bonus point is meant to make teams try harder. However there is the same ratio of 'bonus point' games in super league as there are in the Championship. Around 40%. So does it really make a difference to the games?

It only seems to make a difference to the table on reflection as in Super League with no bonus point, they try just as hard it would seem to get the win as Championship teams convert games into bonus points.
