| I see Barrow have filed their accounts for 31 December 2008. They lost £71,954 and are insolvent to the tune of £134,201.
Also Des has stumped up some cash, the club owed him £83,800 at the year end and the directors gave personal guarantees to secure a bank overdraft of £137,651. Also Des's company Johnson Recruitment sponsored the club for £10,000 during the year.

You guys are obsessed with goings-on at Barrow aren't you.
Last years' accounts are pretty meaningless, especially as .....
Crowds in 2009 were up almost 70%,
Have a turnover of £800K+ in 2009 to-date (season tickets have yet to go on sale which will greatly increase this figure),
We got to 2 finals in 2009 and topped the league,
Are due to post a £100K+ profit in 2009,
Have, in the last 8 weeks, increased the club lottery income by £600 a week (£30K PA), a figure that is still growing weekly.
On top of this, the club has NEVER been been wound-up, even during the very dark days of the mid/late 90's and we own land worth approx £5M.
Regardless of DJ's input, we are more financially sound than 95% of Pro RL clubs - including most SL clubs. The most important thing is that the RFL know this as well.
No story here I'm afraid.

The story is that you are gullible enough to believe everything you read and hear. 70% attendance rise will include 35% free tickets. What does the lottery cost per week, if it is the same as us then it is £1. So this lottery is taking on 600 new people a week? I smell some tax dodging going on here.

Dont forget the prize money! That will take out about £500 a week.

The biggest load of crap I have heard in a long time.
According to your official site you had over 35 players in your first team this year. Lets say an average wage of 10k And you claim that you will make 100k profit next year!
No Championship team with 2k attendances makes £600k+ in a season.

You said it, tec ... in Des's pocket. And you must remember that Des has LENT Barrow money, not GIVEN it. It's like one of them pre-marrital agreements between husband and wife, if things go tats up I want my money back, not exactly a marriage made in heaven, eh?
So ... when Barrow don't retain their trophy in a year or 2's time and you get some pist up dockers prodding Des in the chest wanting to know why, let's hope for your sakes Old Des don't take his bat 'n' ball home.

Here we go again
The rise in attendances will include all punters, however, the club never give away free tickets (or charge peanuts for season tickets like other clubs).
Regarding the lottery, we aren't taking on 600 new people a week, we have taken on 600 in the last 8 weeks or so, which equates to £30K a year. People are joining all the time which will increase still further. I think there are 5,000 - 6,000 lottery shareholders, each paying £1 a week.
The figures I mentioned were announced by Des and the BOD at a fundraising meeting 2 weeks ago.
I think you Fax (and Widnes) fans are the gullable ones. Des this, Des that, Rooney on this, Catic on that. All complete cobblers.
Fax should have a good squad next season and so will we. Should be another great season.
Get used to it. We're here to stay (until 2012 anyway)

More like 1k actual existing people and 5k registered to ANOther.
On an unrelated note; does prize money won incur income tax?
And on another unrelated note, if a player wins a club lottery does it count against the cap?
