| its not so much the positions but the points differance, the BP has makes the table a lot closer, thus giveing keeping the table alive for longer, which i guess was the whole reason for doing it!
OMG iam i actually saying that the BP is a good thing!

| What would the table be with 3 points for a try and 2 for a drop goal ?
Get real - the rules are what they are and that's what you have to play to.

That scenario just doesn't work!!!!!
The league doesnt have 3 points for a try and 2 for a drop goal, so why would anybody want to see what the league table would like that in that scenario.
The truth of the matter is that the bonus point is a waste of time, otherwise it would NOW be used in Superleague, Australia and International rugby.
Lets hope that it goes sooner than later.

| i think that was kinda the point i was trying to highlight SpanBob
we r top, yet the chasing pack are closer than they sould be as they have been awarded points for losing!
of the top of my head i cannot thin of another team v team sport that does this!
Nice experiment - keep coming up with ideas big nige - but time to sin bin this one!

| and the point is ????
the only good thing about winning the league is the extra money that the team gets - and the prestige - but it does not get a SL licence and means diddly squat to the RFL - although they way things are looking there is every possibiity that - Fax -Leigh may get in on default anyway - other than Widnes who have already qualified - lets hope that all three are there - and the RFL are not conned again

How would Fax get in on default? And how have Widnes already qualified?

| Widnes have already qualified to apply for a licence by winning the NRC - and fullfill all the criteia required by the RFL
other clubs are now playing catch up
Other clubs may get in by default if some of the present SL teams fail to comply what is required by the RFL licence rules and therefore down graded
this is why there is now a mad scamble for clubs to find or share grounds

I think you are missing the bigger picture.
Widnes, by winning the Northern Rail Cup have now qualified to make an application in 2011, for inclusion in 2012.
The two teams who compete the Grand Final also qualify to make an application, as does the Winner of the cup and the Grand Final teams for teh next couple of years.
That said it is only a right to make an application and ALL the other criteria still exist. I could see the RFL dropping the odd team out of Superleague, if only to make an example, but this would only if the stadium of all the big teams are acceptable. Therefore if St Helens ground is not complete I wouldnt expect any team to be dropped out of Superleague.
But lets say they dropped either Castleford, Wakefield or Salford out of the league and opened it up for a couple to come in, this would certainly be Toulouse (this expands the RFLs French plans) and perhaps Widnes or Gateshead (for expansion).
I do think the RFL would come up with some reason to keep us out, the last time it was the stadium (although it was and is better condition than Brewery Field).
