well then we won icon_smile.gif but the attack is still clueless. we never seem to be able to organise plays and then execute them quickly and efficiently whereas Workington today looked more dangerous when they were close to our line.

We have one half back who only gets his hands on the ball to kick on the last, and our other halfback is a dangerous runner with the ball in hand, but needs to learn to make the right decision.

We are completely rudderless, and that's before even considering the mind-numbing brand of rugby we play. Really painful to watch

Could have had four try's in the first half. I sit in the East stand half way line so don't really know if they were try's. If they were then that would have altered people's opinion of the first half.
I thought the second half was much better with Tonkas storming run the highlight.
Sorry folks I enjoyed the game.

I thought today was a good advert for 1950's RL but a win is a win especially after a tough game mid-week so can't fault the players.

I thought the Chairman in his notes today did his best to deflect criticism towards the coaching set up. Yes, the play book is straight out of a scene from 'This Sporting Life' but I think the majority of fans would be able to deal with that if we were vying for a top 2 spot, it's a results business blah.

I also can't recall many punters saying Forrads don't make good coaches either as clearly results indicate they do (as Mr Steele pointed out). Mr Steele either misses the point or is selling us a red herring here in his programme notes, the fans main issue with Harrison is not that 5 drives and a kick is boring (if only sometimes) but his inability to galvanise/inspire/improve a decent set of RL players that no doubt cost a lot of money to assemble and maintain (to which Mr Steele will no doubt testify to). We just seem to be getting by and constantly winging it, I'd love to know what the players think of the coaching methods.

Whilst on the subject of programme notes, does anyone else think our very own Bard of Barnsley (Dave Fleming) rants/ramblings are getting worse?....in the words of Hudds Shay, Whitbreads Gold Label 10%.....mmmmmm.

Yours in RL

Well it was a win not a great game dull at times but we are used to it now, it was very frustrating not to score in the first half until the last seconds, that try disallowed from the high kick was 50/50 to say the least but we got the score right on half time we deserved. Second half we scored a good try to push us out to 18-10 and then saw the game out when we looked out on our feet understandable after the Leigh game so well done lads you worked for that win.
Karl said on Radio Leeds we were down to our last 17 players today and that Potts has a broken ankle.

We won - but man was that hard work to watch , very laboured , boring , slow , predictable attack - under calland we would have won 46-22 or something like that. Theres no buzz or atmosphere at The Shay anymore and going to the Shay feels like a choir at the moment , I spent more time checking other scores than watching match.

Heard from someone who has no reason to lie that Harrison's new contract has been signed. Also Fieldhouse is off at the end of the year, apparently he is not rated by KH.

Casey at fullback next season then?

If he's got another contract then I'm afraid I will not be going to watch the drivel he is serving up.

This tale about Karl getting an extended contract has been doing the rounds for quite a while now. The board don't appear to want to get drawn into making any announcements just yet, that's their prerogative & i don't blame them really. It should make it easier to do their sums for next season, call it an average home gate of around 1,000, i won't be one of them. No Championship RL to watch on Premier sports channel nowadays, sunday's free'd up without making the matchday commitment and i'm really not missing it one bit.
I've stated previously on here the admiration for the work that our board do, their commitments & sacrifices & i like to talk RL with a couple of them when i'm in their company but if i won enough money on the lottery i'm happy to say that things would be done my way at Halifax RLFC !!!

He might have a chance if he learned to pass a ball more.

midweek game didnt seem to tire Leigh as they ran in 60 unanswered points ,
Cannot understand how he cannot rate Fieldhouse as he is consistently one of our best performers and top try scorer and usually looks like the only one who is going to make something happen,as for not being able to pass it dosnt stop him picking Heaton in the centre!!!
