Fax by far the better team . Deserved the win well played WBH. Murrell targeted in defence by oposition again kicking behind him . butler was my mom why do we keep not passing to him 20 yds from opponents line. Thought salty had a very hit and miss game McGrath back for me . Signs Adam is coming back to running fitness in second half. Overall a good performance but reality was that's the worst Batley team performance I can remember for many years.

Always a game of 2 halves at Batley with that slope. If we'd maintained our discipline in the second half (we can moan about the ref, but he gives what he sees) then it would probably have been a more comfortable win. That's one regular annual loss dealt with, the other one that we need to reverse the trend with is Fev at home.

The table looks good today, and a great showing from the Fax fans today as well.

That’s a group of good players to be missing, hopefully you’ll get them back soon and turn some of our nearest opponents over.

Yes accept those names make a big difference . It did feel like Alex Rowe was on his own for the hard yards . But even just put brambani back in and you may have caught up in the second half . Had to chuckle when fax resident old geezer cameraman was escorted from the
Pitch near the end by a head steward for getting over excited at the win. May actually have got overexcited that he was quick enough to press the button and get an action shot picture of a try being scored for the first time since 1990!

How did Tyrer play today when he was given a 1 match penalty notice on Friday or is that not a match ban? Nothing about Hock who was put on report.

I read your posts and think I have watched a different game. icon_eek.gif Opposition kicking behind Muzza? That's why you place your winger and fullback as we do. The only time a half back is going to defend a kick is a little chip over the top as happened today and Johnno read it perfectly.

As for Butler you can't do the same move over and over, it does not work like that, the gap is not always there to run in to and by taking other options you ask different questions of the defence allowing those moves you want to see all the time to work.

For Salty ask the pack if he were hit and miss. As much as I think Mcgrath is a decent prospect he would not got through the work that either Heaton and Salty did today. They were both picked ahead of him for that reason.

I thought we played well for about 40 minutes. In the first 25 minutes we were really good and probably did enough to win the game, last 15 of the first half I thought Batley came in to the game as we made a few errors. In the 2nd half batley were on top for quite a bit of it and if you think that is the worst Batley performance you can remember then Im going to have to disagree. I thought they all worked very hard for each other and put in a decent performance considering their injury list.

Just a note on the ref, I thought it was one of the poorer performances we have seen this season as he constantly baffled fans and players with decisions. They say you can't change a ref's mind but this happened on at least 2 occasions today.

Think that’s a fair assessment of the game today
However I’d like Fax to get into the top four along with Fev and represent west yorks in the middle 8s

A ref's job is thankless, but he did seem to get a few wrong today. They're only human though, and players have poor games just as much as refs do. He handled the game Ok, but just didn't seem to be on top of seeing everything that was going on. He had pretty much zero help from his TJ's.

I've learned over the years that the officials generally get more right than we do with tight decisions. For instance, I was convinced that Ste Tyrer had touched down fine in the corner today, but I'll bet that a video replay will show that the officials got it right (or maybe not!!).

Regarding changing decisions, in the first half we kick and it hits a Batley players leg and goes out of play. It's always a contentious one whether the defending player is making a play at the ball, but generally if they're moving towards the kicker then it's regarded as making a play for the ball. Handover given originally, but then changed to be a scrum to us. I don't get that. It's up to the referee to decide about whether the defender was making a play for the ball. We might not agree with his decision, but what could make him change his mind??
