| Stuart Ramsey quit on Friday as a director after only being there 3 Months. As he joined with Mark Moore and worked with him at Bulls and is his mate and was supposed to be looking after the cash I think this adds something to the rumours that there is something seriously wrong behind the scenes and we are almost bust.
As Ian Croad is still ill this looks to me like Moore must be doing everything himself now. I've been told that Moore has been trying to get Laurence Turner and one other to rejoin the Board, I wonder if Ramsey going is part of the deal?
don't sound good to me.

| We need to get out of the Shay. We've never belonged there, it's not a rugby league ground, and it's run by idiots from the council. And the bogs under the South Stand stink. For gods sake, if council estate tin pot Cas can hold their own in SL, surely we can! Yep, need another David Brook, otherwise we're joining the likes of other "formerly decently supported" clubs like Whitehaven, Barrow and York in the pits of the abyss.

| To be fair, not so sure this is the place for this. The board of directors is as it is, don't see anyone else wanting to come in and take over. With the uncertainty at the moment over the make up of the league, would you invest in a club like Fax.
How much relevance will finishing outside the top four actually have - you can bet that the super league clubs will be looking to claw back their cash somehow. All the clubs in the championship could well end up receiving the sum total of nowt, wherever they finish.
The bottom line is, we have a club and it could be much much worse

Accepting mediocrity is a very dangerous attitude.

What's the other option? Spend more than we have coming in? Last club to achieve anything in this league without a money man? For me our directors are daft, who in their right mind would pump hard earned cash in to a RL team with no chance of ever getting a return, I know I wouldnt(saying that I probably would if I had the money) and the thanks they get is people saying we are not showing ambition.

Sorry, you misunderstand me. There has to be a balance between realism and ambition. I think personally the club appears to be doing the right thing i.e cutting its cloth and spending only what it can afford. But supporters shouldnt have the attitude that "I am just happy to have a club to support".
I know at Halifax Town many supporters had this attitude when Jim Brown was Chairman. OK I appreciate not everyone has an interest in the politics and only care about what happens on the field. But mediocrity or accepting whatever goes on without asking questions leads only to failure at worst, and stagnation at best.

| "But supporters shouldn't have the attitude that "I am just happy to have a club to support".
I don't think anyone is saying that or thinking that, everyone who follows a sports team wants them to be winning or at least be competitive other wise what's the point?
Saying "We have a club and it could be worse" is not the same as saying "I am just happy to have a club to support".
The worse equates to not having a club to support because they have gone bust.
To survive and compete the problem Fax and others have is that decisions are being made such as to league structures by the whim of others who care only about themselves, wanting more and more that we can do nothing about.
All SL clubs have a vote on what the structure of SL will be, the RFL and Sky will have to ratify it but there is no way in which they will oppose what the SL giants want and disturb their own nice little comfort zone.
Although the SL clubs do not directly vote on what the Championship clubs do, the SL clubs decisions very much dictate to the rest what they will be left with, which after SL have finished doesn't amount to much.
The RFL and SL took away promotion and relegation, they took away TV coverage, they took away the Grand Final, they took away the Northern Rail Cup, most of them scrapped their reserve set ups and used Championship clubs as a reserve side etc etc etc.
They want it to become like Australia with the elite clubs and the rest are just feeder clubs.
Apart from the internal problems each club has to face, as said who would want to become an owner, benefactor, investor or supporter with this type of set up?
The game at this level will not attract any significant interest from anyone at any level and the original few who remain from the old days will slowly but surely get fewer.

| An excellent post Faxcar. RL ruled by SL and RFL who it seems are happy to forget the grass roots and Championship apart from a few select clubs.

But again it comes back to accepting mediocrity. Where is the combined effort by supporters to oppose the continued inadequate running of the game by Red Hall?

| What the RFL and SL are missing though is having cut off and dug up the roots of the game where will the next generation of players come from?
Many will choose another sport and those that stay will be playing at a standard too low to be able to step up to current SL levels.
Even now the standard of play across the board is hardly breathtaking, it all has to start somewhere and as the starting point shrinks the standard will drop further.
They got all carried away when the cap was raised and the marque players were voted for, "We can compete with the NRL and Union to keep or bring in the best players" while at the same time working towards removing the avenues for players to come through.
It's all been seen before in other areas, if you do away with serving your time and apprenticeships you end up with a shortage of skilled tradesmen, or in this case players.

| A lot of people aren't accepting it, just look at the drops in crowds. I just don't think there's the energy or desire to mobilise something bigger to push change, most fans will just find something else to do (I'm one of this group now).

Very fair point. However, it is easy for Red Hall to pass this off as changes in society. The cost of living going up, etc. Whereas a strong and united voice would leave them in no doubt what the issue is.

An honest answer, the combined effort doesn't exist and those in the game know it would be a waste of time and effort.
The fact is that SL and the RFL take no notice of the Championship clubs or their supporters, they want them to become feeder clubs so what can they be threatened with?
It's not the same as football but it would be like the conference clubs and supporters trying to get the FA to favour them over Man U, and the likes.
Wigan are behind a lot of this, even one Wigan supporter said to me that the likes of Halifax should know their place which they described as them being top dog and us as a flea on their backs.
One big rugby league family, yer right, it's just patronising words to make them feel good about themselves.
