Quote: Jaffro "Dont understand the views on FaxTv. I think its good value, and at least the club are trying another way to bring some income in. Does anyone think a prospective fan is really going to watch a video from a fans forum? Its 4 quid a month FFS. Just have one less pint this month.'"
The problem is not asking fans who pay £20 to pay another 3.99 instead of having another pint, its about trying to get new fans to the ground and showing the product to people you want to come watch live.
Let's say FAX TV costs 40k and brings in 40k, breaking even, box ticked, the club is online and available to anyone with a spare 3.99.
Oh hang on........ what's the point of it? Does it actually bring in any new fans, does it actually reach anyone but a few hardy fans who cough up? Looking at our attendances, despite improving performances, were on a spiral down.
Maybe the club doesn't have a spare 40k and it just needs the dam thing to break even, and is trying to keep happy the loyal few who pay.
My argument is too many people I know who used to watch Fax may come back if they could get to see a bit more of the product online, that 40k could produce ROI. A snippet of an Adam Tangata try on FB loop is neither here nor there.
And, in amongst all the fake news, which celebrity is splitting up and how to make Brownie from a Creme egg and stale loaf, does the Fax message get across to potential customers, I'd have to say its a resounding no, possibly the age of the board is at fault here, give kids the choice of Fire TV, free movies and Sport or XBox Fifa playing their mates, and I reckon they will keep their 3.99 and watch el classico.
Sorry, but Fax TV is not maximising its potential.
We're not Real Madrid, so chuck that model in the recycle bin, and empty!
