Not an easy match today and a lot of the undoing was our fault but a win is,as they say, a win. Last year we would have lost this game. Well done Fax. Well Bradford manage to lose to the Eagles!! Can they do nothing right.

It certainly was a tough fought game that we really should have won at least twice over, handling(for both sides to be fair) was to say the least bloody awful. Not sure what was happening, some poor reffing decisions didn't help but we just didn't put the game away. I'll take the win and move on hopefully it's the kick up the butt we need moving into the business end of the season.

It's doesn't do the team any harm having a tight fought game. It will focus them for next week

Batley team fighting for survival playing a local rival.They were always going to raise their game and did. credit to them for not going away. Both their props were very good. They will stay up.We spilled enough ball for 3 games and couldn't get past the 1st tackle in the set for far too many occaisions. Still we did the job and move onto next week with a Donny side no doubt buzzing after their first win. Glad it wasn't all down to next week.Hope Ben Heaton is ok-we are running out of bodies! Sign of a good side is one that doesn't play well but still sneaks it. See you at Donny.

A win is a win, and a pint earned for the lads.
As I expected, tough, no holds barred, no quarter asked and none given, and we were a little under done, not at the races, but they got the job done which in a results business is the key.
On the plus side, despite Bradford losing it shows if we can turn up, we can turn them over if we have to.
I would ask fans to remember, on form Bracek didn't deserve to be dropped, but RM has to make sure everyone has game time and enough games played to make sure we can put a team out in the Middle 8's, so don't be too harsh, Michael Steele eluded to this last week. I saw it as a compliment that he trusts Bracek to take one for the team.
Further more and a real positive, the crowd increased, Rovers lost, and Ben Johnston and Murrel's good form continues. Mitch was again superb, Ecclestone looks very capable, almost making Rettie look stupid, Saxtons groin didn't go twang, Tyrer looked class etc etc.
Keegan Hirst should be a target, he had a great game for Batley, sign him up...

p.s Hope Heaton has nothing more than a dead leg, painful all the same, but after Donny he should be reet again.

Scrappy win but that is all we needed to do, get the win. Hopefully this will give us a kick up the backside and we can kick on from here. I think the way the lads have played for the last few weeks, in fact most of the season, the can be afforded an off day especially when they ground out the result. On to Donny next week and again just a win will do to secure our top 4 spot.

Our starting 13 were not firing on all cylinders today as they have been in recent games, some of that was down to us being our own worst enemy and some of it was down to a good effort from the Batley pack and good scrambling defence that held us out in the first quarter.

In addition I thought the interchange didn't offer any impact from the bench.

In the end a vital 2 points that could have slipped away but didn't and a win at Doncaster should see us home in 4th if the lads keep their focus and take nothing for granted.

Phew I just knew they would get close I was more nervous today than the last 2 games against Sheffield and London as we had so much to lose and Batley are always up for the games against us they seem to have a grudge against us!
The lads did a job without playing too well so lets just finish the job at Donny as a 12+ points win should pit us out of sight of Fev even if they did beat the Eagles.

I'm really looking forward to Sunday should be 2 points and a step nearer the 8's, a good chance to see how far we have progressed under RM and a crack at Leigh.

I maybe tempting fate, but I'm hoping for a fev win on Sunday. I reckon we'll have a real good crack at bradford next week.

We'd get an extra 50K which is worth 1 potential 2 players wages next year and as bonus we'd play the 4th place side in the middle 8's at home!!

The money only gets handed out according to where a team finishes in the middle 8 for example the team finishing 8th receive 450K the higher up the league you finish the more you get. Getting in the middle 8 is all that matters.

Ah, I didn't know that. So in theory we can get more prize money than a current super league club, interesting.

Agreed, not seen that just the one where you receive it placed on your current placing in this league.

Just to stop all the confusion about money awarded to finishing 3rd or 4th, could I ask Michael Steele just to confirm the figures for me. He kindly explained the the figures at a focus meeting earlier in the season but at that time I must admit I was not that sure we would finish so high. What a difference a good coach can make to our fortunes.
