The Shay Stadium! Many of you will by now have seen or heard that the Council have publicly for the first time confirmed that they are not accepting the bid from Mr Abbott and Reactiv Media. For FC Halifax Town it has been an untimely distraction during our football season, involving an immense amount of extra work understanding the whole situation and attending various meetings to decide on a strategy, should one be required. We do feel immensely let down by the authorities, on the basis that such discussions have taken place over a long period of time with this bidder, without any consultation with a significant tenant/partner of the Shay Stadium, being provided. It was literally after the "cat had been let out of the bag" from a question at a Council meeting and a subsequent telephone conversation from the Courier, that this came to light and as a result of questioning, we were invited to a meeting. We have written two letters to the Council Officers via our Solicitors on the 11th September and prior to the announcement last week, we had received no written reply. The hardest approach for us, has been to keep our "powder dry" and not go public, despite not knowing what was going on. How could we respond anyway? No one would confirm is the Stadium for sale or not? No one would confirm it was a "One Horse Race" to purchase, however that could have been? From the rhetoric of the bidding party there was an impression created that allegedly it was a "done deal" with the sale paperwork to be completed in "two to three weeks", We were not prepared to enter in to a public "tit for tat" comment saga, even though we disagreed with some comments made by Mr Abbott in the public meeting. We can confirm Mr Abbott was FULLY aware of our position in this matter. We did have a meeting with him and he went through his proposals. He wanted a second meeting but there was no timescale attached nor was there a commitment on our part to come to a conclusion in the first meeting or the one after that, had one taken place. From comment at the public meeting, he could not "assume we were in favour" of his takeover of the Stadium, as was quite clearly explained in a telephone conversation with our Chairman David Bossomworth. That discussion was to explain why FC Halifax Town did not feel able to accept a £750 match sponsorship verses Barnet from Reactiv Media. It was explained to Mr Abbott that it would be hypocritical for the Club to take money from his Company, when we may be totally opposed to his proposal for the Stadium involving a private sale. We did say on Radio Leeds, the Stadium was now well run in terms of health and safety and maintenance and that is how we would like it to stay. Whether other income streams can be developed to offset any running cost deficit, may be the key question. That said, if private ownership was the route the Stadium was going, if the Stadium was going "up for sale", then we would have had to consider all our options in that respect. At the moment we do not know what the next step is. We understand a meeting is to take place regarding the future management of the Stadium for the benefit of all. We will await this meeting and comment as and when appropriate.

They obviously don't have much to do with their Chairman. They can't even spell his name correctly.

In the Blue corner the fearsome, aweinspiring, destructive, unbeaten flyweight champion of Halifax weighing in at a little under 8 stone, height, 5ft 4 inches reach, as far as my wallet, fist size, tight, fear factor 11 out of 10, ladies and gentlemen Mrs HalifaxJohn.
frightens the life out of me anyway.
In the red corner, any one who doesn't agree with her.
No contest.

Halifax Town board so innocent and NEVER tell lies. d040.gif I wouldnt trust them any more than Mr Abbott to be honest, as I dont know them. They can say what they want, but it doesnt make it true. The Owners (The Council) dont have to tell them or Fax (The Tenants) anything about any meetings if they dont want. If a landlord has received a bid for his property he doesnt tell the tenant. So why would the Council involve the football club about a bid made? Maybe after advanced meetings and The Shay would possibly be sold, the Council would make contact, but again doesnt need to do. The football club should stop moaning and crying and except they are tenants and as such dont hold any rights or demands on what the Council decide regarding the shay. The same goes for Fax as Tenants.

Not wanting to start a war again but after waiting all this time to say something it just didn't sound very well put together with a couple of possible contradictions.

Do you think it sounds fluent?

Just to clarify, the fcht supporters club had a meeting a few weeks ago where the board were the guests and they made their opposition quiet clear.

As regards to the original post, it is indeed from the programme, but the poster in question has written it out, and not
