Hi,

I'll introduce myself, I'm one of the backroom staff that is getting on a bit, Malcolm Powell 73 years old, volunteer for the past 7 years, cost to the club nil.
If you think that the backroom staff are intrumental in selecting the BOD or selecting the coach or even telling the coach how to coach his team, think again.
The backroom staff do all the hard work that keeps the business running through the instruction set by the BOD and the RFL regulations.
I'm sure that if you could do a better job, at the same cost as myself, I'll look forward to meeting you.

Waiting for a volunteer to take my place.

Malcolm Powell

It beggers belief that people like Malc feel
the need to justify themselves on here.
FFS aim the criticism where its due.

Thank you Malcolm, on the other thread I asked justthebasicfax to name who he was referring to which he has so far declined to do.
As you have "outed" yourself I will now add my two penny worth.
Malcolm Powell, Mike Riley, Seanfax, Hilder, johnyfreemanfanclub, Burybabe, Pete McNamara, Pete Emmet and perhaps others I don't know about put a tremendous amount of hard work and energy totally unpaid, into our club. I believe (and am prepared to be corrected) that without these individuals the club could not have survived over some of the past years.
ok we now have Mr Abbot and his finance on the board but we still need the hard work and dedication of those afor mentioned.
In the Office we have Sarah, who I am told does an excellent job with her team, again an ever present at our games.
As for the comment about "strutting around on match days" it's called doing a job in a smart and efficient manner.
I know how hurtful these comments are to those individuals, can I respectfully suggest before making wild and quite frankly poorly informed comments any one with those notions spends a day (at least) free of charge down at the Shay.
From me a very big thank you to them all.

Fair play to you Malcolm. I don't get up to Fax much these days but I know that your contribution is legendary, and very much appreciated by me. As is everyone's contribution, at all levels, (except Nigel Wood's!). Without you guys etc etc!

I'm amazed at the things being said at the moment. We are having a sticky patch, our squad is perhaps not as good as those st the clubs around us, as is reflectedin results. But, people need to appreciate, as I've said before, we are restricted by salary cap, player availability and finite finances. Get real people. We wanted KH, the board delivered, what else eh?

And let's not forget what happened with Mr Gartland.

We'd be staring down the barrel if we drove away the good people at the club now. Brain before typing

I agree with your sentiment entirely and everyone behind the scenes does a great job, mostly without much thanks. However as you say you don't get up much these days and as Ive already said I was one who wanted KH but it simply hasn't worked out. His player retention and recruitment leaves a lot to be desired and the brand of footie is dreadful. I can't think of any good reasons to keep going at the moment but 30 plus years of blind loyalty keeps dragging me down. But by god it's excruciating to sit and watch....

Sadly KH appears to have lost the dressing room and the team seem clueless and unfit. I doubt things will change but he's got a massive job to turn things around and I hope he does then we are all happy. Sadly the stuff he's got us playing is abysmal at best and in my opinion we need a fresh pair of eyes to take us forward or next year could be a massively missed opportunity....

Don't think anyones knocking the backroom staff, and if so shouldn't be, all invaluable, its the onfield crap and fitness coaches who need to be looked at.

I am sorry if some of the backroom staff feel upset by some postings. The efforts of all the backroom staff are appreciated by all supporters, but they must recognise that the club is a professional setup and as such team performances and results is the only real barometer to how the club is progressing or not progressing. Like Chris Smith I really worry for the future. Next season is so very important; if the news about promotion and relegation, and cash boost to the top two championship clubs is correct we have to finish 1 or 2 next season. Some supporters seem to feel add couple of new signings and everything in the garden will be rosy. I dont share that enthusiasm a new hooker and a n other will suddenly transform the team and we will more than a match for any team in this league. It will take a lot more than that to sort out the current problems. It is undoubtedly a testing time for the club and it remains to be seen whether the club is capable of meeting the major challenges ahead.

This is what was written

2) Will we ever see a backroom or backoffice clear out? some of them have been there for decades, some of them are knocking on a bit, perhaps the whole set up could do with freshening up. Players come and go, as do Coaches and Directors, A Backroom job seems to be a job for a life at Fax.

And this,

the back room staff is also stagnant, a lot of them strut around on match day like Lords of the Manor

Totally unnecessary.
In my humble opinion.

Just read the post by justthebasicfax - it is bloody outrageous!

A - I have been a volunteer for years

B- We work bloody hard for the club we love - match days are harder to run than some folk clearly think.

Triran, we had a disagreement in the past, that is in the past.
I appologise for not mentioning you in my previous post. I know how hard you all work particularly on match days as I have been to a few match day packages in the East Stand.
Incidentally the match day package is recognised a one of the best, if not the best out of Super League, and better than a few in SL.
If the RFL had let out guys run it at the NRF then things would have been a lot better.
Well done.

Agreed HJ - we have hosted SL BODs and RFL officials in the past - they have all commented on how good the experience is.
