No, I don't think so.
We didn't win it, what about the teams Barrow beat on the way to the Final.
It's done now, onwards to 2012.

I totally agree. That's in the past and we had the chance to win it on the field. I would feel uncomfortable winning it by default. As for the prize money, if Barrow was made to pay it back it could see them go bust and out of existence and I wouldn't want to see any team do that.

| In my view Johnson should be made to pay the prize money back and it should be shared out with the other teams in the 2009 play offs but in reality this will never happen.

not sure our solicitor or players missing out on bonuses will see it like that, the can of worms could be endless on this. and if you did this in boxing, horses or football to win the main prize u would be locked up for a long time so why should it be any different in rugby league

Are you suggesting we will take legal action?
If so, against who?

the person who was found to be cheating us and the other teams out of prize money?
im saying the club and other clubs should stand up to any cheat of this nature for the sake of its fans who were also robbed of the reason they support their club.
do you feel being banned from the game is big enough punishment? i go to my earlier examples

| Don't see how it legalally would effect the playing side of things. As a business they cheated and assembled something outside of the set ruling but our 17 players still didn't beat the 17 players they faced that day so they can't have a winning bonus. If those 17 players at Barrow were all taking drugs which had a direct positive effect on the performances throughout the season then that would be different. Barrow's players shouldn't be receiving any punishment in the way of suggesting THEY cheated because they didn't. Each week they turned up and beat other teams together, the fact they shouldn't have played together is the main issue but that's not their problem.

No wish to fall out, but, I do think an 8 year ban and 29 points deduction is sufficient.
On second thought's perhaps a lifetime ban and 29 points would have been preferable.
But, from my little knowledge of the law, a life time ban would be overturned by every court in the land.

| There is a part of me that's wondering why the whole club, players, fans and staff should suffer because of the actions of one person. Plus, there's going to be extra financial burden on all clubs in Championship 1 as there's going to be 2 extra far flung away days imposed because other clubs houses weren't in order. I suppose the facts need to come out before passing judgement.

I think that the ban, in effect, excludes him permanently. I mean, can you honestly see Barrow or any other club wanting Johnston's involvement after his ban expires? It would be the biggest PR faux pas ever.

Most clubs would welcome anyone with a Wad of cash into their boardrooms.
Money Men are not always good for sport, Look at Alan Stanford, turned up at lords with a Million Dollars and a Helicopter and seduced the men in silly jackets, wasn't a great thing was it?

Hicks was a fine cricketer, and Gillett made a very good blade.
