I know a few of us have been wondering about those who "signed" 2 yr contract last year and if they were still signed up for this coming season.
The wording of Ben's announcent on the official club site answers this for me. "The club have snapped up 2010 hero, Ben Black, for the upcoming season" and "Matt Calland was happy to get last years match winner signed up".
So this answers my question as Blacky was announced on a 2 yr deal last season and therefore those on 2 yr deals for me most certainly aren't on them anymore.

It's a good job we aint governed by the NRL! (And before I begin i'll state Widnes did similar last season when taking people off full time deals to part time). When the Melbourne cap issue came up Smith, Inglis, Slater, Cronk etc all offered to take pay cuts to stay together at the Storm... however Gallop (NRL CEO) barred them from doing so on the basis that when they were offered, signed and got paid on those deals it was because they were the best on the market for them... beating other clubs offers etc, yet now circumstances were different they were not allowed to do that as it broke the salary caps principles etc... quite an interesting story in it all worth sharing  |

Your logic is sound. I can only assume the club must have put some sort of get out clause in the contracts or they were all one year with an option. I don't believe for a second that we bought them all out. |
