| Did anyone else pick up on Wire coach Smith's on field interview straight after their game versus Salford at the magic weekend ?
He was saying something like "I can't wait to go home and watch the replay of this game, Bill's ( Arthur) commentating will be like a breath of fresh air"
GOOD MAN, and very well said in my opinion, Stevo & Eddie are well past their sell by date.
Poor match though....

| I disagree to be honest. I just cant get enough of Stevo's punditry. With regards his replacement, id almost rather watch the game in mute and enjoy the silence

Yes I heard that too, it was said with a broad grin on his face as well as if he knew he would be ruffleing a few feathers.
One of Cullens comments has to be the most bizzare of the weekend so far after the Warrington game.
He said that it was games like the Warrington one that reinforced how good the ruleing in the Championship was with the introduction of the bonus point.
There was perplexed looks from both Eddie and Stevo till finally Eddie said "but Warrinton won by 50 points how`s the bonus point going to work with that.
I was laughing that much I couldn`t hear what Cullen was saying I wish I`d taped it.I could see he was spluttering about something.

| I think he meant that a team like Salford don't deserve anything for getting hammered but it gives teams an incentive to dig in, keeping a game close to the end. Wakey for example deserved more than Salford but both have nothing. But I guess it comes down to whether you fundamentally agree with bonus points or not?

| Thought Rodd Studd's commentary was good for the 1st game. Much much better than Ben Proh(spelling)

| Yayy about time Eddie and Stevo were broken up, I cant bear to listen to their drivel, and i really dont know many that think Stevo adds anything at all to the insight into the sport, a bit like Ray French, they talk about a game thats changed since they played and while you cannot question what great players they were, someone else deserves a chance, Bill, Barrie, Brian, Terry, Phil and co do quite well without them, although Eddie could maybe hold onto a position away from commentary.

| I have to say I'm not too impressed with Bill Arthur. He seems to sutter and stumble through his commentaries, and seems to be stuck for things to say in post match analysis on the Championship programmes. As for Stevo, he does make the game sound exciting, but he's as thick as the proverbial pig plop. One example was yesterday's match, Harlequins v Hull. Score 19 - 4 to quins with not much time left. Quins penalty. Stevo just coulldn't understand why quins ran it. If they would have taken the 2, the gap would still be 3 scores, Hull would have done a short re-start and could have got quins with a sucker punch. But Stevo just didn't get it And he also does my head in when he refuses to admit he's ever wrong, even when he's obviously wrong!
Also it annoyed me when during commentary of the Leeds - v Wakey match, Leeds were hardly ever referred to simply as "Leeds". It was always "The Champions". "Wakefield are trying to break down the Champions". "The Champions are now on attack". "The Champions are getting back into it". Is this new SL speak from now on?

| Roy Studd as a lead commentator was good. With Carney/Eddie as back up and Cullen for analysis would be good. Stevo tries too hard to be controversial and O'conner is cr@p as well as widnes biased. Barry Mac has to keep some role as he is a really funny bloke!

| Did you know Clive Tyldsley used to commentate on the North West RL programmes in the 80s/early 90s.

Martin Tyler and John Helm both commentated on Scrumdown as well.
Having grown with Ray French and his M62 references cementing the flat cap image of RL for years I think we should be thankful for Eddie and Stevo AND Bill Arthur to be honest

Perhaps if you had listened to PC’s reply to Eddie’s inability to comprehend the reason for the bonus point, you would have understood what PC meant. Sometimes when a team is beaten they just accept it and fold, with nowt left to play for. Players may see getting to within 12 points as achievable, and fight until the end for that. Thus avoiding embarrassing and woeful games like the Warrington v Salford game, on which they were commenting.
I’m not a big fan of the bonus point, but it should be introduced across the board or scrapped completely imo.

I'm with you on this. It seems that the Championship Leagues have been used for this experiment for too long without any resultant opinion being voiced as to its success or failure. Or, is it just that the SL clubs have said no chance, end of?

Possibly.
And, if that is the case, that should be the end of it in the Championship too.
