That was my photo and was 1 from a series of 7 which all clearly show at no time did thackeray and the ball touch the line together, the next frame shows Thackerays momentum taking his arm forward but the ball staying put, the next shows his body moving forward over the ball and his hand/arm has lost contact all together with the ball, the ball is still short of the line, the next few frames show thackerays body and several fax players over the try line but the ball is under this lot and still short of the line.

Your grasp of the game is I think flawed as I read your comment on the Widnes forum where you describe Sundays win as emphatic.
Get real man. That game was a classic and could have gone down to golden point or whatever. Widnes just edged a tremendous game.

It can still be emphatic even if its a close game. My grasp of the game is fine.

I remember it fondly as it happens. It was the time when the club finally faced up to the fact that it was carrying a massive historical debt ( around £500,000 IIRC ) and that the time had come to face it as it was not going to go away. This was done and EVENTUALLY ( before you dig up the begging buckets scenario ) the club was put on a stable financial footing as it remains today.

It's funny how people only seem to remember that one season and not the 7 other seasons we were in SL in which we were competitive.
