| Taken from the Courier after Saturdays FIRST home defeat for the Shaymen:-
A Town supporter made his feelings clear to the Shay chief during the first-half when he approached the home dugout to remonstrate with Aspin.
The Halifax boss was unhappy with the incident and says it was unacceptable behaviour from a home supporter.
He said: “I’ve been in football since I was 16 and you have games as a player when you take lots of abuse - that’s part of the job.
“What’s not part of the job is when a game’s going on and have supporters coming within two feet of you abusing you.
“I’m not prepared to accept that - that’s out of order.
“I’m not immune to criticism. I think all managers get criticism - you accept that.
“But that’s going too far where myself and my staff are subjected to abuse from people who can come within two yards of you.
“But what do people expect? Do they expect us to come into this league, part-time, nowhere to train, loads of injuries, and be winning games comfortably?
“Let’s get realistic, we’re in for a fight, it is a struggle but we’ll respond, roll our sleeves up and the lads will give their best and that’s all you can ask for.”
Its numpties like this that are putting me off going down the Shay to watch Town this season plus after all the rubbish we had thrown at us over the possible sale of the Shay as well, you cannot defend this kind of behaviour towards a top bloke and manager like Neil Aspin, disgraceful. I do think this plus £17 to get in is making the crowds drop there was only just over a thousand on Saturday.

| What makes a person think that is the right way to do things? I don't like football but Aspin is doing a good job with what he has just like we can only do we do with the small resources we have. Like the article says - we are in for the fight - sounds right to me but in the correct way obviously.

| There is a long thread about it on the knuckledraggers forum... Trying to justify it because Woking fans had the audacity to get behind their team and celebrate goals

| Amazing reading their forum, how dare the Woking fans enjoy the result, no town fan would ever 'disrespect' opposition fans by enjoying a big away win would they...

| In a segregated ground a dozen Woking fans were
in the hospitality area ie. right in the middle of the home
crowd. There was no trouble but it wasn't a clever decision.

So someone going down and verbally remonstrating with Aspin is regarded as " no trouble " then ? well that`s all right then.

I was referring to the Woking fans scenario.Obviously the numpton
who verbally attacked Aspin from two yards away was way out of order
and has apologised.

Well then you've poured further scorn on Football fans, the away supporters can't accept the home clubs hospitality for fear of violence?
None on this occasion but you seem to suggest it could happen.
Mrs Halifaxjohn (lucky lady) was in Halifax Town Centre at lunch time on Saturday and later remarked that she was surprised to see mounted police and police in numbers, and was amazed when I said that t would have been for wendyball.
It's a sad game.

| Not defending the town fans, but we've had our fair share of incidents over the years. People ringing up Jamie Bloem at whatever time of night to have a go, having a pop at Ben Black in a local pub after he dropped "that" ball. I think a few people even said a thing or two to Matt Calland from time to time.7
Must be said, you can get very close to the dug outs at the shay, closer than at most grounds I think, so I'm surprised its taken this long for someone to go up to them having a go!
