Check out some of the local amatuer RL facilities Nige and reconsider your stance on the good of the game. A 5 minute piece on boots n all about some leeds players turning up to a touch and pass game at the local sports centre is hardly grass roots development.

Im only surprised he hasn't got himself an MBA yet, he'd fit right in with some of those pretenders.

Slightly off topic but chatting to a work colleague who plays in the amateur game - second successive week his team have had a game called off as the opposition couldn't raise a side. Deeply worrying for the amateur game . People not playing , watching - hard times for the game.

I understand Summer League is killing the winter league at amateur level.

Don't know enough about the facts and figures HJ re summer rugby - but it is worrying. Hearing stories from others who used to play cricket and football at a local level and all say dwindling numbers are a great concern. Another colleague used to play cricket for King Cross until they folded. Changing world ; different commitments etc affecting a lot of team sports.
