Before I’m banned ( and return under a different moniker) this is copy n pasted from a castleford tigers forum
By my reckoning at least 11 players from this season won’t start the next one with us,and I get the distinct impression more will be on their way, with at least two in discussions with other clubs. Far outweighing the rumoured ⅚ incomings. Word is more need to go before more come in.It’s a root and branch alright, it’ll be a younger, less experienced team that takes the field for the first game that’s for sure. Only hoping we retain some of the older heads to steer the ship, and still thinking we are light on the prop front. Also whispers surfacing of Widdop discussing a player/coach role in the championship
We've certainly missed Gwaze and Barber this season and their intended replacements Doro and King didn't work out, as well as Maher and Kyle Wood easing off is like losing another player. Also we've missed Worthington's defence on the edges.
SG’s final interview has a few comments on retention and recruitment and the state of the club so worth a listen.
Basically there won’t be wholesale changes but there will be some incomings and the majority have been done with a couple more bits of business to follow which according to him should give us a competitive squad in a competitive division.
The club faces some difficulties and challenges and he mentioned not owning our ground as one of them but it was in good hands and that was about it.
Huddersfield have just signed Thomas Deakin from Roosters who plays at 9 so could see A O’b coming free but even if he does there will be a few clubs interested in having him.
Sheffield officially announce their departing players:
"Josh Guzdek, Ross Oakes, Liam Kirk, Mikey Wood, Brandon Douglas, Matty Chrimes, Ben Sheils and Jason Bass will all be moving on to pastures new ahead of the 2024 season."
But no official "confirmation" that Fax have signed Douglas yet. Has he really been signed??!!
