| Gannon & Pickersgill both offer strength in numbers as opposed to where we were this time last week, let's be honest, most folk thought we'd lose last week's cup-tie, we now know we have a potential 2 more cup ties which although aren't season priorities, they're both winnable fixtures and potential earners if we get down to support the lads on the day, so anyone who might be already cup-tied will obviously need to be given those games off, meaning our lads already in the playing squad have more game time to deal with moving forwards, squads with greater numbers can cope AND offer both cover for injuries/suspension , plus competition for places. I don't see much in the way of D/R coming our way since the two lads the other week were announced ( and one subsequently withdrawn ) we look short in the 3/4's with Tibbs' injury after shifting Arundel & Worthington. The biggest plus for me so far this season is the emergence of Tom Inman & his pace, enthusiasm & desire, he definately changes our attacking dynamic off the bench against tired opposition and this then allows Kyle Wood as cover for an emergency half back, and/or Brandon Moore as cover at loose forward ( personally, I'd only spell Brandon as a hooker to preserve his energy ) Other than his size, i don't think we'll miss Ryan King, he was still settling in & needed more time to bed in, Maher looks the same to me, so if we can get just a bit more cover for our props, i'd be more than content with this current squad. We certainly have plenty of local lads wanting to wear the Fax colours right now

| Quote: Listenup94 "I’m not gonna get into the signing specifically as I think some of the reactions are way over the top especially on Facebook but one thing I did notice in Grixs’ interview regarding the signing was an acknowledgment from Grix even if it was inadvertently that he does see a place for a bigger prop who does less minutes, he clearly says that at one stage or another he and Fleming had a disagreement regarding his role Grix saying he saw him as an impact prop and not a big minutes prop as Fleming saw himself. This then begs the question why haven’t we recruited in these areas which was also answered, availability and money . In the last 3 seasons I can name only a handful of props who fit the bill in these areas and most of them played for the top two teams in the championship and obviously we aren’t competing financially with them , the others are Tyler Dupree who was snapped up by superleague and Lewis bienek who I rate . Without knowing the wage difference between for example a Maher / Fleming standard prop and a Mackenzie yei/ Tom amone it’s impossible to give judgement. I’m not gonna lie I’m confused as to why Maher has been so average at this level and also why he’s playing so less minutes because for hull kr he was playing a lot more , my guess is Grix has told him to try play the impact role because of his size and as of yet it hasn’t worked, problem is if Maher / Fleming has for example Brad knowles aggression well they would be playing else where on more money so it’s a catch 22 really .'"
I agree re mindset. Look at Dane Manning and Salty who are far smaller but run in harder and more effectively than both Flemming and Maher. Maybe they need MIND coaching...

two centres not released. both left of own making to go elsewhere.
inmand very good signing and becoming interchange hooker and also can do job at halfback.
pickersgill will settle in and become one of the best championship fullbacks again. perfect cover there and if woodburn hall has to cover halfs. or injured.
lannon, if back to best will be good as we saw first time around.
fleming has the size to take 3 opposition at him. making space for backs.
rawsthorne ?
team/coach so bad that still in 5th in league and 2 games from wembley.
one of best thought of young british coaches.
lets judge by the end of season if need to.'"
Arundel was under contract for this season and Fax decided to release him. Worthington was pushed by been offered a contract that they must have known he would not accept.
Interesting the comments on Pickersgill though, how do you see him becoming one of the best Championship fullbacks when he will be playing second fiddle to one of the best championship fullbacks? Do you see Woody moving on? What you say about Fleming sounds good but thats not really worked at his 10 previous clubs. Look up Journeyman in the dictionary and it will have a picture of Fleming. Really nice bloke but this isn't jobs for the boys and when it is so expensive to watch us play it makes it a hard sell.
I don't think anyone is saying we are really bad, like for me personally I think we are a very good team who should be in a position to push for 2nd place in the league this year and the grand final. The problem is that we are underperforming and again its in a period of the season where it has happened previously under Grix which is a worry although I still have no doubt we will come good hopefully starting tonight. The main worry for me is that Grix's signings this season have been really bad and his act of trying to punish players or show them who's boss really is not working out. When we are letting players like Springer, King, and likely Doro next go to bring in players like Maher and Fleming, that is a big worry.

| seems to let players go that wont work hard, no matter who are. springer being a prime example.
when pickersgill was at bradford probably any team in the league would have taken him with his form. fev got him then sidelined in place of others. will be very good cover for woody if injured or needed in halves.
fleming takes 3 defenders to put him down, makes plenty of space for the backs to exploit.
Doro only here to end of season as wants SL place. got potential though. hopefully can force way in team more during the summer.

| Strange that so many clubs have let Fleming go despite him "looking the part". Hopefully with this been his last chance saloon he can be of use to the team but given his history the odds are vastly stacked against him but maybe fans of every club that have let him go have been wrong.

| Most of the grumblings have been surrounding our pack recruitment and there are some valid points around this however I am prepared to give Maher a bit more time and certainly Fleming , one thing we do now in our overall pack selection is variety , Murray , calcott, doro , larroyer , tangata, fairbank, gee , javanagh , lannon , Maher , Fleming Forster , Oakley , a mix of youth , experience, durability, size , aggression, skill . Whatever everyone’s opinion is in specific players we have competition for the starting 17 and that in turn brings out the best in individuals.
