Having seen Whitehaven's form over the last few weeks I am not sure who were the favorites before the game. Batley who had overcome Bradford in the earlier eliminator were waiting the result as a Whitehaven win would have seen them going to Toulouse. Our first half display and a controlled game in the 2nd half was what was needed to send Batley to Toulouse with our semi final at Featherstone. The game was won in the last 5 minutes of the first half which meant a steady game plan in the 2nd half.although it was only the goal kicks which made the difference in the end in what was a tense exciting game for the whole 80 minutes.
Scott Grix in his last home game before his retirement deservedly won the Player of the Match with the Hitman award going to a strong performance from Ben Kavanagh.
The half time draw was number 8689 winning £203.
We are now on to Featherstone next Saturday 2nd October Ko 5.30pm in what should be another game not to miss as the pressure mounts to reach the final
We will be running a supporters coach leaving the Shay at 3.45pm. Adults £12 with juniors with an adult free.
To book phone Neil on 07714488080 .
