$64,000 question that one. Everyone is going to have a different opinion on this, but my view is that there needs to be a fundamental change in how the club operates. We've had turmoil in the boardroom for a number of years and there needs to be stability at the top. A stable board would be able to plan for the future rather than changing the business plan whenever the board changes.
On players, we need to be identifying what positions we need a season or more out and looking to tie up signings as quickly as we can. I know that is difficult and that we can't approach players until they are in the last 6 months of their contract. But taking Muzza as an example, we know that he is getting older and that he will need to be replaced probably next season, so I'd be looking now at who we could bring in and speaking to them as quickly as we could. Coaches know how long contracts are for and agents speak to clubs, so that is easily achievable. We know what positions we need to strengthen so we need to plan for that. Coach identifies positions and rugby director and coach speak to potential players.
It all needs financing so the options are twofold in my opinion. Get more sponsors and investors into the club, and more importantly get more bums on seats and improve the commercial and match day offers. That needs some clever marketing and possibly giving freebies away, and improving the product on the pitch.
If it was easy, I know that it would have been done, and I know that it isn't easy. But that's my take on it.
