| It never fails to surprise me the discussion at the end of a season etc about recruitment for next year and whos worth the bucks.
The most successful teams in Super League era have indeed brought in some quality NRL players which is way out of our budget but they have also used their young player development system . Players who want to play for the blue n white , players who turn up week in week out in our case for free.
Do you think that all the great home grown players of Wigan were superstars before they got their first squad shirt.
A club like fax needs to financially be smart and blood a few kids . How many times do we have to see potential Fax players run out for a Super League club ?
We have a fairly moderate reserve team but a few shining stars as always. Instead of buying blokes at the end of the road it's time to look at the long term.
IMHO

| Quote Waddy-Fax="Waddy-Fax"The whole episode of him re-signing was way too much. It seems he's mates with some of the "super fans" we have who were instrumental in running the bring him home campaign. He's not done anything for 3 seasons. He should not need other players to shine, way people went on you'd have thought he was Sonny Bill Williams when trying to bring him home. Good player, yes but not seen it for many a season now and really should be standing out with the euphoria over him. Would have been far better putting the money raised into a half back instead of a mates favour jobs for the boys signing which this was. Maybe he needs a pre-season who knows. We needed backs to score points, a centre we have lacked for 3 seasons now, not another forward, just think money could have been better spent and sentiment got in the way.
I await all his friends now and people he's shook hands with to start name calling.'"
I think you're pretty far of the mark that he hasn't done anything for 3 seasons. He's an x factor player and can make things happen. Awesome feet for a big guy and is a standout player for the most part in this division. He put a massive shift in against Saints and stood up well. I don't think he's delivered much since coming back but I think he's an asset rather than a liability.

Good Post and couldn't agree more. It's no secret that the most successful teams over the last 20 years (Saints, Bulls, Wigan, Whinos) have a conveyor belt when it comes to talent but that has been years in the making. We need to avoid the DR BS and ise the club like Fev have done and the benevolent dictator at Leigh.
I think next year, hopefully we get Grady back and Sion Jones. Need a 1/2 props, an established centre (not a second rower masquerading as a centre like Barber), hooker and new half back.

There have been quite a few rumours of Grady going along with JWH. It is the silly season though.

When fully fit we have adequate props / forwards. Concerning the other positions, I've heard rumours of Nick Rawsthorne, Matty Wilde and Danny Brough.

| Yes hope for Grady back and a fit again Jones ( i thought though he has just had another op. ) for me Jones has the potential and should have been given more opportunity game time when fit . Rawsthorne i can never understand how the entire coaching staff missed him yet hull watched him for 20 mins and made an offer. Wilde as he showed against us has good pace. Brough for me is probably way out of our price league and comes with his petulent downside as well as his skills.team player? I think he would spend more time in the sin bin than playing championship rugby. JWH and Barber for me could both play higher if we used and coached constantly on their bad bits keep both . JWH its just about attitude and focus .Barber is a good homest player 1 on 1 defending is the issue . Loads of skills and a good rugby brain . Love the 2 welsh boys for their fearless approach. Cooper had far mor opportunities than he deserved imo. Salty non existent against saints ? Mark on him .rawsthorne at . Jones at prop . Wilde/ JWH in half back .1 of twins at hooker mcgrath back on one wing outside Rawsthorne ...job sorted Grixy and on budget

| Rawsthorne wasn't missed by the entire coaching team. But the man that mattered wouldn't listen to his coaching staff. He didn't used to like or let the reserves train with the first team until he was persuaded otherwise

| Brough isnt the wakey half we are after........Rawsthorne I doubt we could afford and with SL interest its very unlikely. The hooker we are looking at isn't at Bradford although we have shown a keen interest in a couple of their players.
