| We had two wingers today that come inside to do the hard work bringing the ball up. That's great and tbh fitted in with our two centres today. All hard grafters but not a lot of speed on show. We do have a quick winger, but have been playing him at fullback before now. When Sharp was on the wing at Fev, he looked devastating... but he does need a centre inside him to provide the timely and quality passes.
Just a thought.
Btw, agree that we need someone in the middle that's able to "boss" games for us. Especially when we get in front like we did today (and previous games this season) and couldn't hold on to grind out a win. Not necessarily a "game changer" as such (they're few and far between and unlikely to want to play for a part-time club), but someone who can really call the shots.

| Quote: gizempo "It was Richard Moore that shot out of the line and took the dummy, just like he did against Batley that lead to their second try. I think a few brain fart moments cost us. Why do we charge the ball down, how often to you gain something from it. The 2nd one led to them getting field position for their second try. Why, when we managed to steal the ball back near our own line do we try to an impossible off-load and give it straight back. And a couple of soft penalties on last tackles.
But also a game of fine margins, if Saxton gets his hand to the ball, we are 3 scores up. Mile's gets to the kick through and we go back in front.
And I don't think Johhno actually worked that well at 6/7. We seemed very disorganised down the right hand side, I don't think he steps well on that side and the only decent pass we made down that side is when Moore switched across and put Tangata in. Plus we had less kicking options in open field meaning all the pressure is on Moore (who I thought had another good game).'"
I said that about charge downs they just give the opposition another set of six 9 times out of 10 and only benefits you when near their line and hardly ever when you are in your own 20.

| We keep on changing the rules in RL, and this one would be an easy one to tweak. Don't reset the tackle count for a charge down. Simple.

| Quote: Red City "Just watched it about ten times, at the play of the ball Leigh use a dummy runner, as the ball passes him he stops, Moore comes out quick of the line to make the tackle but misses, another of your lads comes across but the Leigh player is blocking his path.
Think the ref missed it because the Leigh player stopped and didn't run into anyone.'"
Yeah, the Leigh dummy runner blocks off the most direct path to smith which buys Smith half a yard IMHO not intentional but still obstruction in my view. All irrelevant now though.

| Another game that's got away from us and we literally could have won every match this season so far and been sitting pretty at the top of the league. A little bit of tweaking and we could easily go on another long winning run. Miles in at FB, what a good return he had, Sharp on't wing and Murrell at LF when fit and we won't go far wrong. Victorian, Fax. Bristol Beer Factory, Independence 4.6 % Mmm! ![Thumbs up icon_thumb.gif](images/smilies//icon_thumb.gif)

| There has been a lot of talk on here from various people calling for Scott to play at 13, however nobody seems to have considered the extra defensive effort that would be required from him. At the moment, playing at 6, he defends between wing and centre. At 13 he would be 3, maybe 4 players further inside in defensive line. A modern loose forward would be expected to make 30-35 tackles minimum over 80 minutes. The physical effort required from Scott would render him a passenger in attack.
However, with Scott at 13 and Moore + Jonno at HB's at least we have Scott's leadership on the field, which at the moment is a massive factor.
