| Quote Makingplans4nigel v2="Makingplans4nigel v2"Seems a fairly simple and logical move by Mr Poskitt. I guess it'll bring a degree of accountability to the role, take some pressure off the BOD and stop things drifting as they probably have done in the past.
I'd like to see the club pitch up with a stall for a couple of weekends before Christmas say on Southgate (opp Wilkinsons) and start to get a little bit of a presence in the town centre again, become more visible if you like (I'm sure the Council will lend a stall or two).
Maybe create a new membership scheme, a free draw in return for contact details, merchandise on sale, competitions, players handing out free teas, coffees and pastries, the faxettes putting on a show, the club mascot, tiran can maybe put together a short promotional film that can be played on decent sized screen, hand out flyers......owt.
Get stuck in and start reconnecting with the town centre........just a thought

The Supporters Trust have already have this organised Sat 15th Nov , it is primarily to sell some bric a brac ( all contributions greatfully received ) but also to raise awareness re` the Rugby Club .

Ermm......a jumble sale selling dead mans shoes, jigsaws with bits missing and Fergies autobiography wasn't exactly what I was hoping for. I don't want to disparage the Supporters Trust attempts here but I'd say we need to lift the bar a little higher in terms of raising the clubs profile and winning back some goodwill.
Let's not confuse having a jumble sale to raise a few quid with a slick, organised, thought out promotional exercise.
Good luck with the jumble sale but leave the rest to Mr Poskitt and the exec.

I believe Mr Poskitt is salaried so there should be some accountability and if little is achieved then he'll need to explain why. Is this just another project that will fizzle out? Only time will tell, thanks for your input though......

Thats my point, salaried or not, if he doesnt have a pre set budget to spend, he'll achieve little
It requires at least a season long ' plan ' that whoever can implement, if he has to go cap in hand for every little initiative it just wont work
IMO

Can't disagree with you, I haven't a clue what the budget is. I'm just taking this announcement at face value and hoping the club becomes a slicker operation off the pitch. Don't get me wrong I'm up there with the best of cynics but I can't see the point of pulling it apart when we 1) don't know the budgets and 2) it's only just been announced.

| Personally I would come at this initiative from a different angle. On previous threads it was debated that we had a behind the scenes team who had been at the club for a long time and whilst doing/have done a great job, either paid or as volunteers, perhaps had run out of ideas etc.I see this new group as a think tank to genereate ideas for the BOD to decide if the proposal is then worth spending money on etc. The areas they are targetting look bob on to me. The game day experience for example neeeds to be much more polished and something to draw not only us diehards in but also the casual spectator, families, local amateur clubs. Chasing new revenue streams, and maintaining existing ones, is vital for any successful club and we are no different. I also like the idea of it being a link between the club and some of it's fans. They have my support, as the Supporters Trust and their initiatives do,after all we are all part of the Fax!

| I'm glad you posted that Starbug. Although i haven't exactly read-up yet on the real purpose of this group, i did wonder why do it. Has mr Poskitt raised that half a million yet BTW ?

On face value it looks a good idea so hopefully it will blossom and some good will come of it. People on this forum gave long been calling for more fan involvement and Andy Binns is a well known local supporter so it's now time for the cynics(and at times we can all be one, myself included) to give a new approach a chance.
