Is It Just Me ?

I always thought that Rugby Clubs were open and transparent
that Directors directed.
that Coaches coached
that Players played
that Scoring was the aim ( I always find it very enjoyable )
and that Supporters supported.

Now I find that Directors stick their heads in the sand
Coaches "devise a game plan" and stick to it no matter how it is working out.
Players stick to the game plan (unless they lose in which case they havent)
Building Pressure is better than attempting to score
Defence wins matches ( I thought that scoring points won matches)
and Supporters are taken for mugs ( The more loyal, the bigger the mugs )

Silly Me

Shall I go to Rochdale next Sunday or visit Billy Smarts Circus on The Moor.
I would probably see more entertaining rugby at the circus, but fewer clowns.

Krusty, if you want to come on another clubs forum and make a worthwhile contribution, all well and good. At the moment I'd say you seriously need to up your game. Have a few weeks off on the coast and think of some new material or the odd punch line and we'll see how you get on.

Thanks for the offer Krusty, but I'll pass on that thanks. The thought of leaving work early, tackling the M62 and watch us getting beaten up on the park really doesn't grab me. Anyhow I think I'd be seriously out of my depth once the banter started flying about between you and the other Fax lads.

You'd like to think Karl is hurting, but is that the point? KH has had plenty of time and (in my opinion) made a right balls of it. To be fair he's in good company, for some time now you can count on 1 hand the number of things they've got right down there. The same people doing the same things with the same results. Oh and before any of the 'club' within the club pipe up, we've heard it all before.

My hope would be that the BOD have already called an emergency meeting to discuss playing matters. Everything else should be put on hold. The current situation is unacceptable and people need to be held to account and if necessary moved on.

The fans deserve to know where the BOD stand, back him or sack him.

I've just watched some of the 2010 Grand Final. You can say we had more classy players on board then, but there were more offloads in most sets of 6 than we see in most full games, the guys ran in hard every time, we took on the line, and had players backing up at speed in support of any breaks.

The defence was probably on a par with what we see nowadays, but it was exciting and enjoyable to watch, and there was always a real chance of something happening from any part of the pitch. Shad just staying in play on our line and Rob scoring a full length of the pitch solo try on the next play sums that up.

I do think we've got a decent set of players now, albeit not with the collective flair that we had then, but they seem to have had any concept of using their individual talent coached out of them in the interests of following a "game plan".

We know that respecting the ball in our own half is important (we did use to have a go at Matt C's team about that!), but when we get over the half way line, we need to be far more expansive and try different things. Even "building pressure" can sometimes be important, but each game is different, and being able to adapt during play without sticking to a restrictive playing style is so crucial.

No disrespect to NWC, but they were there for the taking on Sunday, and we could/should have put 40+ points past them. My prediction pre-match was 46-12 .... I got the 12 right!
