We always go Skipton - Kirby Lonsdales - Windermere - Keswick, the A591 onto A66. A nice drive out, takes about 10mins more than going up then going the M6.
Bank Holiday weekend so maybe best go through the Dales as last time up there for the Barrow game the motorway was gridlocked I heard, we went up through the Dales but were unlucky as a 4x4 had overturned near Keighley but how many times does that happen?
With it being a Bank Holiday weekend the road from Kendal through Windermere, Amblside, Grasmere to Keswick could be slow going. Better going up M6 toJct 40 and A66 to Workington. Have a safe trip.
