Quote: marillion man "Well plenty of our 1st teamers got U20's gametime last season I can assure our posters. OK, how about this, how would your "youngsters" feel if they missed out on £20 or £30 appearance money for some "1st teamer" who got selected in front of them ?
These so called 1st teamers, who are actually reserves for the 80 minutes duration of the game might just bring on the kids, they might just steady things down or liven things up at the correct moments during a game. It's very possible you can learn things from playing against better opponets as well for that matter.
I wish we had the luxury of the Leigh squad in both quality & quantity, & i don't blame them for contacting other clubs to work a deal out re the U20's fixtures.'"
Colin, last season I never saw more than three first teamers in what was then U23's.
How would the youngster feel if they missed out on £20 or £30 if not selected?
Well speaking for my self, It wouldn't have been the money firstly, it would have been the fact that I didn't get a game.
I am not sure whether the youngsters are allowed to play for anyone else at weekends, if they are then at least they get a game, if not they may have to sit out a few weeks in a season, I am sure they will want to play on a regular basis.
So for me, it's under 20's with a limitation on open age.
Just my opinion.
