What has the rent issue got to do with the moronic Luddites who follow the Pubteam? Answer is nothing. Sadly there is a large number of morons who follow the Pubteam and have helped create further divisions between the two sets of fans. Led by Gavin Butler, the Luddites have been poostirring and making things up. The manner of the hate campain against the likes of Tony Abbott, Michael Steele as well as Councillors like Tim Swift is nothing short of disgarceful. The Luddites are happy to point fingers knowing NO facts and forgetting the debts that the old Pubteam had.

Somebody on Facebook posted "The club are attempting to renegotiate terms as the football club successfully did when they ended up playing against the Dog and Gun and Red Lion. Times have changed, but the rugby club are still paying more for about 35% usage." There are rumours that Fax pay way more than the Pubteam yet use it way less. Fax and anybody who uses it regularly should be on the same terms for the amount of usage.

The people running the club have done well so far and have got the club in a much better shape than previously. I trust them as whilst certain areas could be better the record they have is a good one and have hardly been here 2 minutes. The sacrifices people like Mr Steel, Mr Riley etc have done for our club and the results it has brought over the years should not be forgotten. Sponsorship money is up again this year. Ignore Gavin Butler and his band of merry morons. I know I would rather trust people like Mr Steele, Mr Abbott, Mr Riley who have achieved something over a set of morons who hate our club and who always look to cause problems.

I'll tell you why Town fans are so interested in this - TA tried to buy the Shay and he and others (one councillor in particular) justified it by saying the stadium could not continue to make a 6-figure loss every year. Well, truth is now out that it doesn't lose a 6-figure sum every year, and much of the losses are down to the rugby not paying their rent. Regardless of how much either club is meant to pay, Fax have a contract and have wilfully broken it.

And I suppose many Town supporters do see the Shay as their spiritual home, so for them, to see TA and others say the annual deficit is reason enough for the council to sell, when it is TA's rugby club that's responsible for some of that deficit. Yeah, I think I'd be ed off in their shoes as well.

No you're not. Before accusing anyone else of lying - look closer to home. Not that it matters for being on here. Unlike the Wendyball forum, the fans of FCHT are free to post on here. Just a shame that you feel the need to closet yourself as a rugby fan. Same goes for your other footy friend on here.

Soccer is a boring sport and would not watch it no matter who plays. As for the Pubteam , I couldnt care less who they play or what they do- including paying the rent or whatever. Whatever that club does, is up to them. I dont feel the need to go causing trouble on their forum though, nor go around making things up and harrassing people connected with the club.

Best way 2 deal with right wing loonies is ignore them. One of them is daft enough 2 b a suicide bomber soon so he he will get a place in paradise with 70 pommegranets.

The pubteam did once used to own The Shay, but sold it to the Council many years ago when it was once again short of cash. The Pubteam are as much squatters as Fax are. The Shay is used sadly by less than 1% of the population of Calderdale regularly and costs a fortune to run and does lose money. Maybe if the Pubteam payed more rent money than the peanuts it pays now, then that would help. The Shay is in need of redevelopment, something the council cant afford to do properly. Instead of vexing anger at Fax and Mr Abbott and the Council, the Pubteam fans should look closer to home and ask why the Pubteam was not so concerned about a potential sale and did next to nothing. Why are the Pubteam still paying so little rent that when paying a higher rent like Fax would help maybe pay for proper drainage etc.

Spiritual home is all it is. The Shay is concrete and steel around a pitch. Thrum Hall is our spiritual home. But it no longer exists and Fax still survives, even if playing down at the Shay, which lacks the atmosphere of the old Thrum Hall had. Too much emotion is tied to this Spiritual home thing. A club is more than just about its spiritual home or the past. The Shay was not going to be sold and as owners, the Council have the right to look at a bid should somebody want to buy the Shay and dont need to inform anybody. Mr Abbott wanted to keep sport at The Shay and in his opinion help both clubs. Just because small minded people who follow the Pubteam are not happy, does not mean they have to create lies and a hate campaign against Fax, Mr Abbott or the Council. The Hysteria was way over the top. And what did the Pubteam itself actually do about it? If it was so concerned, it would have done more. The actions of the likes of Gavin Butler and his crew were not needed, nor was the lies and hate campaign that started on the Shaymen.net forum.

Halifax Town have never owned the Shay. Why do you keep coming out with this nonsense? The soccer club have only ever been tenants of the council from day one. They sub-let to the speedway for a while and sold the long-term lease back to the council in exchange for a bail out in the 1980's. They then got another lease and gave this up when the first stadium company was created.
