| Both their first game together so think we can cut a little bit of slack with the rustyness.
Great to see three (four if you include jarrod) of the academy lads on the field together and not looking out of place

| Fev beat Wakey 24-8 today including what appears to be the quickest ever try in RL (timed at 6 secs from wakeys men)
Always nice to get one over a SL team
Next week a much more realistic test though - both teams confidence will be sky high, shaping up to be a cracker even if its only pre season

| Quote Greg Florimos Boots="Greg Florimos Boots"Winger should have come inside. I thought both players ended up looking bad for it. Obvious poor play by the winger and not sure what Cowling was doing with the pass.'"
Golden rule = only pass to a team-mate in a better position. No need to panic pass regardless of where Casey was or wasn't. This type of relationship/partnership forming is what friendlies are intended for i think.... no drama.

| Just slightly O/T - anyone remember Dick Fairbank trying to catch passes? If you didn't put it EXACTLY in his bread basket he used to knock on. He even used to pre-shape his arms (upper and lower forearms) at right angles in the catching position as he came in on a run. Used to crease me up

| Quote halifaxjohn="halifaxjohn"Ben will always be well regarded by most of us supporters and I think it's great that we acknowledge all our ex players.
At Leigh last year one or two of our travelling imbeciles kept shouting "reject" at Ostick, not necessary.
Back to the game, I must admit I thought it was pretty dire, the second half particularly. however there was plenty of promise as Living has said above. A typical Batley, Fax, pitch, weather game.
Chips were excellent, only fault? the lady asked small portion or large. how insulting, do I look like a person who eats a small portion of chips? Nearly burst my speedos.
Well done Fax. A good afternoon out.

ps, great Fax following, easily outnumbered the home crowd. Lets keep it up all year, home and away.
See you at Fev?
'"
Leigh at home was even better. Thousand of us chanting "Penky is a fax fan, Penky is a fax fan...na na na na"

| So probably 5 starters in Potts, Tonks, Robinson, Heaton and Johnson.
Conditions were really bad so its hard to draw conclusions about the game. I would hope we will be a lot better on dryer grounds and Batley had the dual regs missing which showed.
Defence looked really good but Batley didnt really offer much, partly due to the conditions and I would assume been a few new combinations for them.
The real test to have an idea where we are will be next week against Fev. Sheffield and Fev will set the bar again this season so it will be interesting to see how we go.
Edit: Worst catcher of a ball I have seen, rivaling Liam Harrison, was Said Tamghart. Destructive when he had the ball but unless it was placed in his hands was like watching coco the clown juggling.
