Quote: littlerich "Love people who come on here with the all powerful insight. Just one question - has the season's just started for you? Where were you on here for our previous 10 victories this year which put us into the QF of the NRC and to the top of the table?'"

I honestly can not believe I have just read that comment!!

Do you actually attend the games, or do you just look at the results? If you do go to the games, you certainly have a different perspective of them than I do.

You are correct, we were (prior to tonight) top of the league.
However, do you really believe that to be an achievement? We are playing in a Mickey Mouse league where every game is effectively a friendly. In the majority of cases we are playing against sides consisting of RL’s journeymen who unfortunately never have (or never will) make the grade in SL, and therefore change their club ever season or so and just wait for the next best deal from a club who needs ‘freshening up’.

As for the Northern Rail Cup….
Watching Fax at Dewsbury on that freezing cold day back in February, I really did think it was, ‘the start of a new era’ as KH and the club had led us to believe, following the gritty and professional win. However, from then on it has all gone down-hill. If you; or any other Fax fan can say they were satisfied with that win, down at Skolars, then I would like to know how? In all of my life watching Fax, that particular game sticks out in the mind as being one of the worst. Granted, later on in the NRC they put up a very spirited performance against Fev and were unlucky to be defeated. As you say, they are through to the QF, however, again do you view this to be an achievement for Fax? Surely it just goes to show that the NRC is a total non-event and can only be won by the ‘bigger’ Championship clubs.

So far, I think we are 11 competitive games in to the season, I am extremely dispirited. Yes of course there have been the high points; Dewsbury and Fev in the NRC, Sheffield in the league and they also did a very professional job in the CC against Myton. However, these performance have been totally overshadowed by the inconsistency, that seems to have plagued every Fax side, since we have been playing at this level since 2004. For me; the performances: tonight, Keighley, York, Skolars (and despite scoring 84 points) South Wales, have all been well under par. With the exception of tonight, where we have played a very well drilled Leigh side; all the other defeats have been as a result of Fax’s: incompetence, indiscipline and in many cases, the lack of desire to win! So how you can be satisfied with this season so far is beyond me. We already look destined for yet another season of mediocrity!

I realise it is early days in the season, however, I’m sure that if we had watched this dross last season, there would have been supporters calling for MC’s head. Yet in the eyes of the vast majority of Fax fans Karl ‘The Messiah’ Harrison can still do no wrong! I’m sorry to break it to you folks….. but as of yet; The grass has not been greener on the other side.

Quote: marillion man "We have briefly mentioned the Handforth situation before Robin. I believe that he (and KH) are the main reasons why we stayed in this division a couple of seasons when we were as good as relegated. He was at the centre of everything we did, was our undisputed leader, and I believe was KH's right hand man. I cannot see Harrison dropping him. After watching Batley for over 40 years, I have rarely seen one single player have as big an influence on the team and on a season as he did. As for Thackrey. I am definitely in the 'one trick pony' camp. I am not sure that him and Handforth are a natural pairing!

On Riettie, he is the nearest you will get to Karl Harrison playing on the wing - Harrison likes him, and I suspect he will keep playing him.

On a general note, how come all of teh doubts have come rushing back? You have had a decent season so far. How can one win change the mood so quickly? You will be there or thereabouts at the end!'"

Not even Glen Tomlinson ?'"

Featherstone should be sacking their coach today shouldn't they? This thread shows cleanly that some people still haven't got a clue about this game despite watching it for years. No-one has a given right to beat other teams easily - even those sat on the bottom. Get a grip and start enjoying The Championships instead of whining and yearning for Super League which, quite frankly, aint what it's all cracked up to be.

Nothing wrong with losing but its the manner we lost on Thursday. OK so you have a bad day but that doesnt mean you go in half hearted in to tackles like what did happen. Also Whilst I thing our pack has been strengthened and the quality is for me better than in recent seasons the halfbacks for me still have to prove themselves. All that possession and we did nothing with it. We have had a number of games where the Halves have struggled to create that much (Leigh, Keighley, Skolars for example). As you say no team has a right to win but you have to go out there with the right frame of mind and not get away from the game plan. Watching Thackray do nothing and Handforth run around with a ball like a headless chicken is reason to be frustrated and annoyed. Having said all that better to have close games and tough games than the non contests in SL. Well done Keighley and hard luck Swinton. No easy beats in this league

Its how you play on the day and for 80 mins - forget last thursday or the NRC Cup, or any other past game for that matter. As long as there is good rugby to watch, a decent crowd, good banter and atmosphere and we can show super doooper league what rugby is all about. (Good luck and may the best team win on the day - of course that hopefully will be Leigh as I am a leyther till I die).

If we want to win the league we need to improve and keep improving. Just like every other team in the Championship. On paper Fev and us are probably out in front.

but as we all know RL isnt played on paper is it?

this is the reason why we go to watch every week.

Bring on Sunday where we can put the mistakes right and hopefully get a draw with the big boys with a chance to make some ££££.
