Quote: DARE "I really do think we should look for some fringe SL props. I mean look at the previous forwards we've signed from that area - Matty James, Gil Dudson, Mark Flanagan, Dom Maloney, Craig Kopzack and Jacob Fairbank. They've all been fantastic players!'"
Could be a definate possibilty certainly in the short term while we develope some of our own lads and have them coming through.
There are pros and cons with this type of arrangement when they are on loan or duel reg.
I was concerned that Championship clubs like us would become feeder clubs for the SL teams with them picking off anyones promising young players.
One example is Leeds with Zac but at least Fev had it covered by having him on a long term deal which meant the Rhino's had to pay a fair asking price for him.
The lesson from this is get our young lads who are showing promise signed up, this gives them some security and protects our investment of time and money spent on their development.
This feeder situtation could actually work the other way.
All Super League sides have to have a good youth system in place with a good few younger players coming through.
Not all these will get a starting place or a permanent first team spot even if they do.
Eventually this will hopefully lead to a fair number of them prefering a regular slot say with a Championship side as opposed to occasionall games or second team rugby with a Super League side.
I know I would rather be playing regularly first team in a good Championship side than sat on my butt or second team rugby in SL.
Some SL sides might actually become feeder clubs to us.
