Quote: Serginho "Halifax had a free role with Chris, the RAF subsidised ALL of his wages, all Fax had to pay was his expenses to turn up to training and matches (Petrol Money!)
Halifax told him he was unlikely to feature in the first team 17 for the first half of the season at least as Halifax have several back rowers ahead of him (which is fair enough) Chris said he understood and was happy to keep on training and be available when injuries kicked in etc. and that he was enjoying the opportunity. Fax then told him they were not even willing to pay his monthly petrol money (as they were saving up for super league) despite the fact they had to pay 0% salary for his services. As Chris has a wife and children to support he had no alternative but to finish with fax as he could not afford £300+ in petrol a month.
Disappointing treatment to a good opportunity for both parties to benefit in my opinion. Top bloke and a top player. I hope the extra £2000 in petrol savings makes a massive contribution to elevating Fax to the upper echelons of Super League.'"
Sounds like sensible business to me. Why would we fork out a couple of grand in expenses for a player who isn't going to play?
