I have since found out that `Don was an abreviation for Gordon but I still do not know if he was a relative of the 1902/3 double winning side.
We beat Salford at Leeds (no trips down to Wembley then) and the papers dubbed Halifax as the Newport of the North as in the year 1900 the Worlds Fair was held at Thrum Hall George Kitson ran in the 100yds and the tale handed down in the family was he won it. I will one day have to do some research to see if it was true we also have the newspaper report about the homecoming cavalcade where people alongside "collected money for the cash strapped club" well nothing much changes does it but that is the destiny of a Fax supporter I`m afraid but then do you value as much, anything that comes easy I don`t know?
