The reason they can afford it is because the budget is not being ploughed 100% into the first team like other teams in this league.



Again as stated above this is because 100% focus is not going into throwing cash at the first team. There is a long term plan in place that is bases around blooding new youth and brining them through.

This will pay off better returns in the long run. We are looking towards the future built around local young talent. Not focusing on the here and now with over the hill journeymen.

Look at Wigan and the development they have in place. A couple of years ago they were fighting relegation, and now they are topping the table with some phenomenal players that have come through their youth system. This will bode them well in years to come as lots of clubs are still playing catch up.

I’m not claiming we have a youth system as good as Wigan, it will take a while to bed in, but the investment is already paying off. You just have look at the results from this year’s under 18 academy league, Widnes are turning over Super League sides left right and centre.

And a number of these under 18’s have featured in the Widnes first team this year (Scott Yates, Tom Kelly, Jack Smith, Danny Craven).



Over the course of this year we have had 7 players on loan or dual registered from Super League sides. Two of which only played 1 game before getting injured (Chaz I’Anson & Chris Dean) so I hardly say they count.

So 5 Super League players brought in to help with cover during an injury ravaged season is hardly over the top?

5 blokes in an office should not determine who does and does not play in super league, it should be 17 players on a field.

Why should they decide if I get to watch my team have a crack at super league. Tell you what, after the next round of franchises I predict the Championship will dwindle crowds wise even further, surely all this can't be legal? Make a breakaway league and play in the winter I say.

The right to post in discussions in this forum are not exclusive to fax fans only. As it's part of the RFL Fans board any registered user can post their thoughts on any discussions they like.

I totally agree. However, we will never get back to promotion and relegation until all teams below Super League bring the stadia and club set-up up to standard and that's the sad situation.

It is not 100% rubbish, as the RFL have stated criteria in the licence bid?Academy set up ,which you should be running and paying for.I prefer have no youth set up and paying for the best team on the pitch.Hey this is boring now because i think the RFL know who they want already.

People seem to have missed the point a little and are now blaming Widnes for the RFL’s rules! There’s a thread moaning that RFL changed goal posts on crowd figure but your chairman has been banging on about it to fans for months!

We know other sides lied on last apps, but it didn’t really effect Fax then so what’s the issue? Make your bid better than there’s and your in!

Moaning whilst your club brings in the likes fo Gene & Aizue rather than paying for an academy side won’t help you though, maybe should look at them if don’t get into SL, not at the time who are favorites to do so and ask why are they so?

I think you will find only a small Minority Blame Widnes, I for one don't blame them, I just dont Like them, I Think that Nigel Wood, Former Cheif Executive of us here at HalifaxRLFC has a grudge against us for whatever, and hinders us at every opportunity
