| I think the problem is that local facilities get booked up months in advance for regular five a side leagues etc, but Fax need to change their schedule depending on when the game is. Talking to a player I know they sometimes turn up for field training to find the pitch is frozen or waterlogged, so they do gym work instead. If they were full time wouldn't be a problem, loads of availability during the day just not at peak times. Also, as a former player, I know astroturf surfaces are no good for impact work and can give you knee and ankle injuries

| Quote chris_smith="chris_smith"Yet another one of the long line of excuses we have been getting lately. Can't e anything to do with his own coaching methods or lack of could it?
'"
Should he be teaching the players how to catch a ball from kick off? Should he instruct Benny on how not to drop a ball on the way to the try line? Sure thing - he's responsible for much of the play/style of play and a lot of criticism can be levelled at him over the last few games but he can't be held responsible for brain farts and freaky accidents.

Defensive system or lack of it for his whole reign? Just because we are fantastic in attack dosnt mean that we dont have to defend. Teams run through us down the heart of our defence and have done for a long time, me thinks he may need to adapt his system.

True, one offs happen in games in the heat of the moment and I understand that. However to continually take the wrong option for 80mins both in attack and defense is down to the coach. Watching players stick an arm out at an attempt at a tackle, throwing a stupid ball to be intercepted in your own half, pushing the ball when there is no need, lack of ability at not being able to play basic possession rugby, need I go on. These things and much more have been evident for over 12 months and Calland has FAILED to correct them. We were guilty of this and much more for much of last season and we're still seeing the same brainless rugby decisions being taken -Surely he has had chance to coach it out of them by now?

| Soon went off topic again, eh? There is a big enough thread to rant about MC already; go do it there, please.
I believe the club tried to get some local facilities, but these were asking stupid money for their use. As for the 3G surfaces, I hear that one player won't train on them for one reason or another.

| Whats wrong with facilities at Greetland for example? Surely arrangements could be made to use a facility with floodlights and help amateur Rugby League in the area. Halifax has always not been blessed with good Sporting Facilities. Part of that is the Council. Part of it is the failure to some degree of amateur sports clubs not properly investing in decent facilities- Floodlights, Weights Room etc. Compared to Germany for example Sporting Facilities in the UK are very poor.

| It is true we still lack at least one full size all weather pitch in the whole of Calderdale, even Keighley have at least one which Calderdale clubs have had to travel to, ridiculous.
But the club also need to get something sorted and soon. What about the Yorkshire Water land on Stainland Road next to the bridge going towards West Vale?
I would help get it sorted out I am sure others would too, maybe worth a try ask YW???

No not that bit the one further on towards West Vale just by the railway, ideal and no it does not flood here.
Selling the old Macks site off was short sightedness but also desparate measures were needed to survive at that time!
We need our own training ground end of story.
