| Quote J20="J20"Well played to Fax for taking a game that could of gone either way. We looked in control but only had a 6 lead, then drop the ball in your 10, White scores and then scored next 3 which wasn't great.
The talk of your packed owned ours, sorry but based on what? 2 tries off kicks, I dn't remember a Fax forward making a break through our line (not inc Penky's tap_). Forwards IMO were pretty even only difference in the game was Fax took advantage of errors, I think every try came from either a Knock on / penalty conceded. We were sloppy today.
Both sides weren't great so let's not act like Widnes got off lightly just as you won. All in all both sides played at about the same level but Widnes mistakes gifted Fax chances which in fairness your boys took really well.
Was on SKY but would of liked a few more Fax fans... should be the big game in Championship and sides with SL ambitions need to offer more, but fair play to does who made the trip down and hope you enjoyed it!
Well done on win and looking forward to next game already!'"
I have to agree with you there. This was a pretty even forward battle. There was a couple of forward breaks from Mikaili and Malone, but there was also a few breaks from your forwards.
Widnes were missing a few and Halifax were missing a few.
Both sides will play a lot better than this game in a few weeks time, with more game time under their belts and our next game should be a better measure.

| Just want to say well done Fax. I watched it at home, thought we did deserve to win and didn't think we would before the game. Very good effort and certainly plenty more to come.
Just want to make one point to the Widnes fans that are bagging our smaller than normal turn out. I have just seen a post from a Fax fan that got hit with a bottle. Its like this, maybe instead of bagging us for not coming to Widnes when we are on Sky, think of this- I never miss a game, home or away with the exception of coming to your place this year.
Last year I saw a Fax fan get verbally abused when leaving after we were well beaten, the year before I saw I guy get punched in the face whilst getting back on the bus, we had our coach bricked and the time before that when I came in the car my window got broken. Thats from someone who follows Fax everywhere so before you continue to talk about potential SL clubs putting on a show and having a large following, maybe look closer to home and ask whether potential SL clubs should alienate loyal travelling fans to the degree that they would sacrifice going as they dont feel safe at your ground

| The forwards cancelled each other out. Aizue matched Gannon, Said matched Doran, Maloney matched Kavanagh.
The main difference was at half-back. Branighan controlled the game and completely outplayed Webster with his direction and kicking. Penky chipped in with a couple of beautys as well. Gleeson changed the game when he came on as well. He'd have been a shoo in for MOM had he been on for longer.
Black shouldn't have played. It was like Miles last year, it was plain to see he was injured and now that Bowman has shown he can cut it (and dictate it) against the top sides he must surely replace Black against Hunslet and until Black is fully fit at least.
This season is indeed a marathon and last night's result was a massive statement not just to the rest of the league but to ourselves. We can play below standard and beat a title contender on their own back yard on a Thursday night, when last year we got trounced.

| Speaking of the players. I have to give a hand to Coyle. Never been a big fan, but last night he never stopped working, kept Widnes in the game at times. And having to take up Smiths role as well.

Yep. Smith's flu virus has cost him his job. Next stop - Leigh.

| Well played Fax last night.
Good/gritty performance. Does seem like we still have that tendancy to switch off once we get a bit of a lead up and let the other team back in though which is a bit of a worry.
Overall though we did ok and came away with the win. Still think the pre-season disruption is playing a part in things, but the signs look positive.
