Quote: Tony Fax "Well put, faxtastic. It's all about being patient ... again it was obvious tonight we got beat in the half backs ... Handforth controlled EVERYTHING for Batley and Black couldn't, partly cos he's injured. Calland's not daft ... he'll realise what needs to be done and will build year on year until we get it right. Maybe the worst thing that could have happened this season was to have such a great start ... everyone now thinks we should be world beaters!'"
Don't know about you Tony, but I believe this years comp to be the best RL comp there has been in years - at any level - "by a country mile"!!!!
No team has the given right to beat another. One team has a good run, the opposition coaches adjust and work out how to beat them, so even is our comp.
I've used the analogy before. A race at Hayock, 6 horses all in a line well into the final furlong would have the handicappers wettin themselves.
We've seen some fantastic games this year, and I'm told by my little mate that last nights was no different. A tense, entertaining affair worthy of a much greater stage. Both Fax v Fev games this year have been examples of just that. But for a dropped ball in either of those games, either result could have been different.
It's a very even comp - we've worked out how to play each other and the results are very close. Fax could just as easy be well out of reach now by not playing much differently to how they have been. Just by a decision or two in either game, a bounce of a ball, a knock on at a crucial moment.
Games and seasons are decided upon such finite actions.
Reading this board it appears Fax are close to nuclear melt-down. I don't believe it to be the case and will be very mindful of that come the play-offs!
That country mile quote was prety daft though!!!
