| Since all the championship teams had a vote in this ruling, it would be interesting to know which clubs voted for and against.

| Quote dazednconfused="dazednconfused"If clubs cannot afford to run to the current salary cap, then they should drop down into div 1.
The idea is that our league is supposed to be a stepping stone into Super League so the gap between them should not be increased.
How do Fax stand for next year? They've already signed up their big names and contracts have been agreed. How much is left in the kitty? Perhaps we'll be left with a squad of eight or nine players and half a dozen blue and White dustbins to make up the numbers.
This decision sucks!!!!
Goodbye to any future for Fax and the rest of non SL teams.'"
An improvement in recent defensive performances to look forward to then!

| Is this legal?
You can't enforce a salary cap on a club that has already committed to 2yr contracts, got to be a discretional element to account for this.
I am sure a good barrister would rip this to bits.

| If it's a "maximum" of £400k this year, why should it be dropped? Its not compulsary & how many of the clubs will actually be reaching this amount?
I remember seeing David Gallop (NRL Cheif Exec) say on tv that not many of the current Oz teams reach their cap & im sure same applies over here for all divisions.

| it'll be interesting to find out how much we do actually spend on players. Are we upto the limit or are we miles off - who knows ; we could be well under considering the size of our squad.
Will the introduction of our under 18s next season count in the cap - i presume it opens the door to anthony bowman and other young players we sign to press for a first team squad place.

| Its a joke is this, the salary cap is working ok,Just look at the table and its just a cap it does say that clubs have to spend that amount on players. Its just a way for the smaller clubs to bring the likes of ourselves, widnes, Barrow etc.. down to them, as opposed to them aspiring to the top teams level when it comes to income streams
How is any team in the co-operative leagues will now be capable of assembling a team to go up into super league? Answer none!!!
All the clubs will be full of loanees, is this the first stage of feeder clubs?
If its to stop teams going bust etc..., they best introduce a reduced salary cap on super league cos a few in there cant afford to spend the 1.8million that they are allowed, the RFL is currently helping out Celtic and have in the past London and Paris all super league clubs, so obviously they the ones who are struggling.
The RFL have an agenda and i am afriad that it does involve any of the little people in the co-operative leagues. Maybe it time to face reality.

| Apologies if this sounds a bit too blunt but I hope the RFL's expansion policy fails and all the respective clubs are allowed to go bust if thats the way the market wants it
