| This saturday sees the start of the junior representative matches under the service area banner which is part of the RFL's "player pathway" development programme. Calderdale has this year taken the step of purchasing brand new kits for all the age groups that replicate the Halifax RLFC design, so effectively, all the kids who represent Calderdale this season will play in the Halifax kit. I understand the Halifax club are making good progress with the local clubs under the current regime and this is another step in the right direction.
This year's fixtures are as follows:
9th May versus Bradford/Keighley
U/12's & 13's away ( Dudley Hill )
U/14's & 15's home ( Shay stadium )
16th May versus Kirklees
U/12's & 13's home ( Ovenden RLFC )
U/14's & 15's away ( TBC )
23rd May versus Leeds
U/12's & 13's home ( Ovenden )
U/14's & 15's away ( John Charles stadium, Hunslet )
As you will note, the first series of games sees the Under 14's kick off at the Shay stadium 10:30 and straight after will be the under 15's at noon.
Why not start your big day out early and get down to watch these lads play, many of them will hopefully be the future of our club with several in each of these age groups already connected to Halifax RLFC via the scholarship programme, having been identified by Martin Gonzalez from previous seasons representing the town. Those of you who have been kind enough to come along and support the lads in previous years will be aware of the very high playing standards on show, that in turn attracts scouts from several clubs to these games for obvious reasons.
There's a slightly different format this year whereby there are only three games instead of five as in previous years, then players will be identified by the RFL to move onto the next level which is regionalised and eventually lads will be selected to progress through to the national camp and represent their country, several Calderdale lads are already at this level and will hopefully be playing on saturday.
If it's OK with the mods, I'll keep everyone informed of results, venue changes etc, but please get along and try and watch some of these games for yourselves.

| Nice one, thanks for the info.
Good luck to all involved in the Service Area, they are the future of RL no matter which club we all support!
