Quote: The Lambeth Bronco "I personally hope Coventry get a go @ Championship 1. They have made great strides in get league going in the city and have a good ground to play/see semi pro RL and the local RU side haven't felt threatened, unlike in Northampton where the amateur RU sides have seen the Demons go from strength to strength winning national championships and the fact that some have switched codes on a permanent basis didn't go down to well so much so that their old landlords were put under extreme pressure to kick out the Demons from their Northampton base.
Problem is Jimmy everyone has been duped. The RFL, Tetley's, Wakefield Trinity and the fan panel, who put in a tremendous effort to help get things started. Probably put back any chance of the Demons ever progressing into the semi pro ranks which is the way it should have been done, not the back of a fag packet plan with no investment strategy that some at the the football club envisaged it would be. I'll say it again someone at Cobblers saw it as a off season "revenue stream" for the football club, not a sporting opportunity for the game of RL and have clearly underestimated the monies that would need investing in such a start up venture. Cardoza has as good as admitted it in the joint statement.'"
Would not rule it out as the South Wales area blotted their copy book many times and still got chance after chance and if the Demons do it right their time may come again as there is room in the Midlands for 2 and possibly 3 Championship 1 clubs if phased in which is where the cock up has been at the RFL's end this time as although Crusaders and especially Scorpions were launched in no time getting 4 sides to do it at the same time is asking far too much.
