| You boys played well in stages from what i saw, i was 20 minutes late to watch due to early kick off time.
But a win is a win mmp, its not always pretty and that certainly wasn't but a win is a win and winning teams gain confidence.
When you did play your sets you looked in more control of the game than Bolton but you just need to do that for 80mins and remind yourselves what posistions you are playing. Noticed that some of your players seem to play out of posistion all too often and you lose your shape and structure too quickly which is why Bolton always looked like they could win this game. Felt the Bolton pack had more direction/leadership but you had it in the three quarters and played a better kicking game. Felt for the novice you have on the wing, but you have to start somehwere.

| i agree with the points that buryrl made, it wasnt pretty but a win is a win and we will take a lot of heart from the character showed to dig deep and come back into the game. a couple of the forwards tend to lose direction and always want to come from the otherside of the pitch to take drives in.. we have quite a few new lads who are learning their trade out on the wings and are growing every game unfortunately on one of the bolton tries the winger went missing but it is not something that cannot be fixed..
good job lads, lets work hard in training and take the positives into next weeks game

| Please dont take anything personal and i acknowledge that this is a new club which is doing what the rfl should be endorsing and supporting by providing rugby league in new/different communities. You must be rewarded for your work to date and by progressing with your youth development-good to see. Have you any views on them playing in a league?
i only wish rugby league was in Bury when i was able to play but i ended up at Bury RU,less said the better. Though i do like watching rugby league on my doorstep whatever the level. I will continue to watch when i can.
bronco7- you recognise my point with regards to the pack which means you know what to do to resolve it, i am assuming you are playing at 7-so pivotal to your teams shape and movement, you are effectively the person who leads that pack around.Keep it up.

at the minute we only have the one recognised half back as the other has been banned for a number of games, i do recognise your point about leading the pack around although it is alot easier to do so with another half back helping out in that respect. It is something we are definitely going to have to sort out and put right though, hopefully we can do that against newton at weekend.
"Please dont take anything personal.." - i think it is great to have the opinion of somebody who is outside the club and your comments/observations can only help benefit the club
"You must be rewarded for your work to date and by progressing with your youth development-good to see. Have you any views on them playing in a league?" - do you mean the juniors or the inexperienced open age players?

Think he means Aiden
Thought Bolton were good with ball in hand and was able to drag us from one side to the other causing the overlaps that they had.

| I think it is good that you have introduced and developed open age rugby league but that you have now began to encourage youth particpation within Bury too.
I was not being crtical of your role bronco7 and i acknowledge it is hard to lead a team around a pitch but rugby which ever code requires all the team members in this case the 17 selected to do the job which is dictated by what posistion they play in both attack and defence. At 7 you have to therefore make sure players stick to the channels they play otherwise it is ultimately the player playing at 7 which looses shape and structure first. Your job irrespective of another half back, as these days a loose forward is a ball playing player, requires you to lead the team around the pitch. So you have to make sure they do what you want and not what they want, as you see the bigger picture past each play. Again i am not being critical of you as i thought you had a good game, your job would be easier though.

| yes i completely agree with what you are saying, we have another home game this saturday against newton storm arlfc. In this game we WILL add more direction in both attack and defence and look to get a win on our final home game of the season.
I think we will continue to improve week on week, cheers for your pointers Buryrl definitely useful and definitely something to think about going into saturday

| I hope to be down to watch the team and have noticed progression in this short season i understand you are playin in.
May i ask when will your summer season start, and will all this information be put on your website so that those not connected with the club can watch?
I had watched a few games last winter and have noticed that there are several new faces in the team this winter. Out of curiousity are those that are missing coming back to play or have they retired, long term injuries etc? Or are you as a team giving new players valuable experinces ahead of your summer season.
I am assuming it is a 2pm kick off this weekend, i had missed the start last weekend due to this change.

A bit of all of the above! The team that started last winter is very different to this summer/winter. We lost 3 key forwards (injuries, kids, etc) and 1 key back (laziness). A few other lads have had to take Saturday work and are only available once in a blue moon. Pretty major disruption.
We went on a recruitment drive before the summer season and picked up several new lads, a few from local RU sides. A couple are still playing, one moved away and another picked up a long-term injury. Alongside that we've picked up a few new local lads who are new to RL but coming on well. Our main issue is forwards, props in particular. Our first-choice pack is strong, but more often than not only a couple are available. Still, we'll be recruiting over the winter and hope to get a few more big lads down.
I think the summer season is due to start on 21st April, we'll be starting pre-season in February at some point. We'll get all that info on the website.
Your comments are definitely appreciated. It's hard to see the wood for the trees sometimes.
Yes, 2.00 kick-off Saturday, see you there!

| New season start was due to be March but we got an email a few days ago with a proposed start date of April 21st although this needs to be approved at a meeting on November 29th. We meet the NWC 8 - 12 league on December 6th to ask for admission into junior leagues and then we'll find out start dates for those competitions. a lot of this stuff has been up in the air which has made it very hard to plan as a club.
The mini-season was meant to allow a switch to summer but as we'd already done a winter into summer and then into this mini-league ... we're suffering a bit of burn-out in my view. its a lot of rugby back to back! the mini-season as a result has been a bit 'iffy' shall we say - not really something worth worrying about. Spring is what will count...
New sponsors, new kit, juniors, Clubmark accreditation, hopefully better training base, and a few other new things to come we hope.

| Thank you for the message MMP with regards to the game being cancelled this weekend, was not much amateur rugby league on offer this weekend either but at least there was the 4 Nations.
Unfortunately Cronus the days of people working Monday-Friday have long gone and amateur sport suffers for it as your club obvioulsy experiences from time to time- only solution in an ideal world is a large squad base by which you seem to be trying to establish with your recruitment. Loss of players happens at every club and is sometimes a blessing as it enables new players to try out the sport.
Size is not everything and in modern day rugby league it is on the demise. Speed, agility and handling is more important than physical size. Modern day props in rugby league are not as big as they were when i was playing and with your move to summer i suspect that those who are big will be getting rotated every 10 minutes to maintain effectiveness on the pitch.
Good luck with your switch to summer and i will aim to watch when i can.

| It did thank you.
I had hoped to see bronco7 lead the team as he had said he would do in a previous message.
Thank you for the offer off touch rugby but i doubt i could keep up and prefer to watch from the sidelines these days. Good luck with your recruitment and i hope that come summer you have the squad to fulfill all your fixtures. This break will allow the injuries highlighted by Cronus to recover and hopefully a few more players join your club. Those players that you mention you have lost do you/they intend to play come summer.
